The Waldorf Astoria - New York

Het is dat je kunt zeggen dat je in het Waldorf gelogeerd hebt maar de kamers waren dikke vergane glorie. Ze waren klein, met tussendeuren. Het rook er muffig. We hebben ons beklaagd over onze kamer omdat we in stijl met onze kinderen ons 30-jarig huwelijk wilden vieren en zeker niet zo'n kamer hadden verwacht. We kregen een iets betere, grotere kamer maar verder werd er niets met deze mededeling gedaan. Onze kinderen bleven in hun kleine kamers. Daar zat je bij toiletbezoek met de knieën tegen de deur. Er zat schimmel op de kitrand rond het bad, Dus zeker niet zoals het hoort voor een hotel in die prijsklasse. Wij logeren nooit meer in het Waldorf!

Een heerlijk hotel met de grandeur van weleer. Onze kamer was nog niet klaar toen we aankwamen, dus kregen we een "hapje" aangeboden van het hotel. Verder luxe kamer, goed gesitueerd op Manhattan met metro vlakbij (51st Street). Service uitstekend - extra handoeken werden binnen 10 minuten gebracht. Personeel vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Middenin Upper Manhattan ligt dit beroemde hotel. En toch een oase van rust, netheid en degelijkheid. Uitstekende service en een kwaliteit die je mag verwachten. Een aanrader om eens mee te maken.

Hotel en ontvangst overtroffen al onze verwachtingen, vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Toen men in het hotel vernamen dat we op huwelijksreis waren, werden we verrast met champagne en chocolade aardbeien op de kamer. De bar is vrij prijzig, maar genoeg alternatief in de buurt, en de ligging is ideaal, we gaan zeker eens terug. Dus voor ons is de Waldorff een aanrader

Statig hotel met sfeer van weleer. Uitstekende service en vriendelijkheid hotelmedewerkers. Inrichting romantisch klassiek. Turndownservice iedere avond. Jammer was dat de kamers op de Concierge Floor incl. ontbijt geen verdere services boden zoals koffie,thee, hors d'oeuvres e.d. zoals normaliter inbegrepen. Door het hotel waren deze onlangs als vervallen verklaard. Roomservice snel en goed. Prijzen consumpties pittig maar dat mag je ook verwachten van een hotel van dit kaliber. Leuk om zelf kennis te maken met dit historisch hotel.

Uitstekend hotel dat zijn reputatie waarmaakt als hotel van celebreties. Personeel zeer voorkomend. Alleen een bezoek aan de lobby , de ball-room en de service maakt het hotel al een reis waard. Ontbijten kan je, gezien de prijs, beter in de buurt bij 1 van de vele Delis's (buffet restaurantjes).

Het hotel is topklasse, service, kamer, alles. Bijzonder hulpvaardig personeel, gevraagd en ongevraagd. Super ontbijtbuffet bij Oscar's voor $33 pp, zeker doen, mooie manier om de vroege uren op de eerste jetlagdag door te brengen, en kun je de hele dag op teren.

Een prima luxe hotel. Vanuit dit hotel zijn alle bezienswaardigheden van New York gemakkelijk via metro of taxi en zelfs te voet te bereiken. Soms was het storend druk in de lobby door recepties en/of persconferenties. Een aanrader voor een ieder.

The Waldorf-Astoria's superb art-deco public rooms offer every amenity from fine dining to an in-house Starbucks to plentiful couches where you can simply sit and gaze. Our room was spacious and solidly comfortable, the decor a little tired. The hotel is centrally placed, on the smart East Side close to 5th Avenue. Perfect for an NY weekend.

We arrived in style through the underground parking lobby and into he grand receiption area. Allocated our rooms the luggage followed. The first room we had was was grand but had a wiff about it on furture investigation it would appear there had been someone sick and the clean up had not removed the smell. On reporting we were given a new room fantastic! Our cases were transfered the maids unpacked the staff were wonderful,a bit pricey in the restaurant but great food.

A fabulous hotel that brought me back to the good-old days of luxury and pampering as soon as I walked through the doors. Elegant and very impressive, my room was comfortable and nicely appointed, without being lavish. One down side was low water pressure, but in a hotel that large, that has to be expected. An excellent stay in an excellent town!

The hotel is tired and in need of a complete redo. It is relying on reputation only which is a pity. There are much better places to stay in NYC and I will definitely not stay here again.

Had heard a lot about the Waldorf's Fabulous $95 Sunday Brunch. However,apparently they do not have it during the "summer." That was one of the primary reasons for booking the Waldorf for our single overnight stay on first Sunday in September(technically, still the summer). Nevertheless, had brunch at David Burke's Townhouse which was over 10 blocks away. David Burke's was exceptional!!!!!!!!

This is a very tired hotel and for the price there are many better options in the city. Very dissapointing!

This hotel was amazing! The most courteous staff I have ever met. There was a mix up with the type of room we were placed in, but they corrected it and moved our bags for us while we were sightseeing. The concierge service with breakfast included and larger room was definetly worth the extra money. I think it saved us money in the long run. Make sure you put the privacy please sign on the door anytime you are in the room. Management and maids do not wait for a response to a knock and seem surprised to find you in the room. There were dozens of extra amenities that you do not find at most hotels, robes, sewing kit,a loaner umbrella, several current magazines, shoe horn, lingerie hangers, Bose wave radio with remote, scale, q-tips the list goes on. Absolutely marvelous!

I had always wanted to stay at the Waldorf Astoria the service and attention to detail were just as I expected. It was very busy on our arrival and our room was not ready, we were however offered complimentary drinks. It was a very grand traditional setting and a great place to stay. The only dissapointment was that the rooms were a little tired and very much on the small side compared to the other hotels we stayed in over the course of our three week holiday. I fullfilled my dream to stay there but not sure I would return as we would have liked a bit more space as there were four of us in the room. Still a fantastic stay in New York and the hotel is in a great position.

Staff was great, they upgraded us to a mini suite being it was our first anniversary. The room was fantastic.

hotel very gracious and well positioned. the room was rather gloomy and faced .onto a wall and air conditioning units .staff were very helpful and pleasant.

I would never stay anywhere else! It was awesome! The beds were comfortable, the shower was great with water pressure, and it was always very clean. The staff is great too. They were very helpful and accommodating.

The quality, comfort, decoration, location of this hotel is simply amazing. If you can afford it do it. You won't regret it ! It was an enchantment

We reserved a deluxe room with a king size bed for three nights. While checking in, we inquired whether the room being assigned had a king sized bed and was assured it did. However, when we arrived at the room, it, in fact, had a queen sized bed. We were assigned another room which did have a king sized bed but the air conditioning was not working ( it was over 90 degrees outside). A maintenance person came to the room but was not able to access the older type system under the window, but advised us to go to dinner and that the system would be working on our return. When we returned, the air conditioning still was not working but a fan had been placed in the room. We informed the front desk this was not satisfactory and requested to be moved to another room. After a long wait at the desk while the desk clerk made several trips to a back room to consult with a manager, we were assigned our third room of the day. This room had a king sized bed, the air conditioning worked but it was a smaller room than the other two. Also, there is no wireless service in the room and one must take his laptop to the lobby to get that service.

With the low price of Hotels.com, I expected that this grand old hotel had deteriorated. It's superb, including classy linens.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Waldorf=Astoria. From the courteous manner of the valets and bell attendants to the hospitality of the registration clerks and room service staff, everyone made us feel better than at home. The style and decor is absolutely classic.

When checking in, at first they had no "no smoking" rooms available. Then we were told there was a "no smoking" queen bed available. It wasn't until after we unpacked and got settled that we realized it was a double bed, not a queen. Since we were only there one night we didn't bother to change. Then, the toilet didn't flush correctly, we had to take the cover off and jiggle the mechanism each time to get it to refill. The aircon also was faulty - stayed on full blast no matter the thermostat setting.

This hotel is first class. This is the second time we stayed there and the location is perfect for shows, shopping and museums. The service was impeccable and we loved the old world charm of the hotel. We will be back soon.

Obviously the Waldorf Astoria is a famous place and a New York landmark, but to stay there is something in and of itself. A stones throw from fifth ave, a short walk to central park , and conveniently close to grand central. The overall beaty of the lobbies upon arriving is worth the price of any room. to be able to tell people,"I stayed at the waldorf" is worth the price of any room. Upon arriving at the waldorf, I checked in 4 hours early and was able to go right to the room. The receptionist upgraded me immediately and placed me on the Park ave side of the hotel. Checking out was a snap. Just have to call an automated check out. If you plan on staying in the city for the rest of the day after check out, they provide a complimetary baggage check. So you don't have to carry your bags around all day. If you plan on staying at the Waldorf, I strongly recommendwalking to the fifth ave side of central park for the zoo

Wonderful hotel with fabulous staff and fascinating story. Watch the video about the hotel's history on your room's TV. Lots of expensive extras you should pass on. Room service is outrageous, as is the in-room Internet access. But, there's free Wi-Fi in the lovely deco lobby and some great places nearby to eat. For breakfast and lunch, find a nearby Pret A Manger or Pain Quotidien. Have a great prix fixe steak dinner at Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecote at Lexington and 52nd.

What a stat. Staying at the Waldorf. We arrived and had doormen opening the doors, bags taken to the room and greeted with a smile. The young lady behind the desk went out of her way to find us the best room she could and nothing seemed too much trouble. Everytime we arrived back at the hotel we were greeted like special guests - wonderful. Thanks for making our first visit to New York so memerable.

The Waldorf Astoria was beautiful, luxurious and the staff could not have been more helpful.

The location was great. Staff were polite and curtious. Room was very clean and spacious.

I have always heard of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and having a chance to stay there was well worth the money and was everything a 4 star hotel should be. The staff was great and it was within easy walking distance of several attractions we wanted to get to like 5th Ave., Theater District, Time Square, Rockerfeller Plaza and so much more.

We had to wait in line to check in about 15 minutes, our room was not ready until about 4 pm it was very small they agreed to move us to a larger room after we stood in line another 15 minutes or so. The toilet in the room would not flush on Sunday am and again Sunday pm both times they sent a plumber and Monday am it overflowed, quite embarrasing to say the least. Again a plumber came. by this time they moved us to a beautiful room that we did not get in until after 7 pm and we had to be out by noon the next day I was looking so forward to staying at the Waldorf Astoria but after all of this I don't belive I will.

I was very disappointed in my stay at this hotel. The lobby is the only thing that is four star about this hotel. The A/C could not cool the rooms down and the water pressure was bad. This hotel is in need of a complete renovation. The rooms look old and are musty. I complained during my stay and when I checked out. They offered me one complimentary night for my next stay and I told them I would not be staying at the hotel again. Don't let the name fool you. It has been taken over by another hotel chain and is definitely a 2 star at best.

My wife and I stayed here last week and it was amazing. They staff are very helpful, courteous, and the service is overall outstanding. The room itself is exquisite--very clean and very posh! All I can say is that if you want a five-star experience, this is the place to stay.

The room was great but they threw my eye contacts out! Even though they made a a horrible mistake by touching my stuff, they definitely made up for it and they showed so much effort in providing me great guest service.

The hotel is in an exellent location. Close to Central Park, 5th Ave, and Time Square. Nice room and excellent service. Only negative is parking in the garage at the hotel is very expensive!

The people working there were great, knowlegeable and caring.

Very nice room! However our bathroom fan was not working, that was not good. They did come and fix it. Stay out of the mini bar in your room. The prices are insane! 6 bucks for a bag of sack size cookies. 6 for coke as well. Overall you will love this place.

getting bags up to and down from your room is a major hassle. They say someone has to be in room - why? so the can get tipped Rob a bank on the way to this hotel - you'll need the money - $60 a day to park!

My room was mediocre -- no better than rooms I've had at the ostensibly lower-end hotels nearby on Lex Ave. The public areas are nice and decently maintained, but the Waldorf is far from a high-service hotel. I got a low, recession-inspired price, and the price was fair for what I got, but I would not consider paying more for a room at the Waldorf than what I'd have to pay at the putatively lower-end hotels nearby.

Gorgeous hotel at a great location. Staff was incredible. Our room not ready at check-in and we were given 2 free drink vouchers and the ability to use another room while ours was being prepared.
