Empire Hotel - New York

Een fijn, luxe hotel met een geweldige ligging in new york. Kamer niet groot maar met alle comfort en luxe. Heerlijk bed. Goede service, schoonmaak en handdoeken, krantje. Ontbijt niet inbegrepen en restaurant hotel erg duur, maar genoeg mogelijkheden om te ontbijten in de buurt of supermarkt om brood te kopen. Loopafstand van metro. Loopafstand central park. Winkels in de straat, restaurants in de buurt. Aanrader!

De kamers zijn wel schoon, maar erg klein, nauwelijks kastruimte, met een versleten en geluidsoverlastgevende airco. En ze zijn niet eens erg goedkoop. De lobby en het dakterras, bedoeld voor niet-hotelgasten, hebben wel een luxe uitstraling. Verder is er veel kapot: 2 liften van de 4 die niet werken (wachttijden) en haperende digitale sleutels waardoor je steeds terug naar de receptie moet. Ok, positief is: personeel is behulpzaam en denkt mee en de lokatie is fijn.

Je bent in 20 minuten te voet in centrum van New York en je bent in 2 minuten in Cetral Park waar je kunt ontbijten.

Uitzicht op Broadway, en het Lincoln Centre. Schone kamer, leuk ingericht

Ongeloofelijk veel airco geluids overlast in de kamers. Er staan een stuk of 11 airco units beneden aan het hotel op een soort binnen stuk. Het geluid van de airco's is in elke kamer te horen.

Dit hotel ligt op een prachtige plek, tegenover het Lincoln Center en 2 blocks van Central Park. De metrolijnen (1, 3 en 3) die naar Midtown en Downtown gaan stoppen vlakbij. Rustige, beschaafde buurt. EuropAn cafe vlakbij (Columbus Ave) is een aanrader voor het ontbijt (veel beter en goedkoper dan de alomtegenwoordige Starbucks). Jong personeel dat erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam is.

Fabulous facilities and hotel position perfect I would definately recommend

the staff were very friendly and trust worthy as my wife had left her handbag in the room when we had to change rooms with our passports,money,c,cards housekeeping handed them in to security the hotel was imaculate and staff very helpful

Bed did not have top sheet on it, just dubae cover on the quilt. Therefore we became too hot during the night. Elevator was broken when we arrived and we had to use a service elevator to get to our room. A tray of food was in the hall next to our room and did not disappear until we complained the next day before we checked out.

On the good side the room was quiet, clean and the bed comfortable plus a good size bathroom. On the less good side the room was very small and difficult for two people to move round at the same time, it was also dark as it was at the back of the building with a view of the kitchens and air ducts.

very sheek style hotel and great roof top bar. Everything was great and I have nothing to gripe about......

Finally got a very large junior suite with interior windows (quiet). First room the key did not work. Second room was not made up (cleaned) after the last guest. The staff was extremely apologetic and made amends quickly, upgrading me to a junior suite to my immense satisfaction. Well handled by the front desk.

The Empire proved to be a nice place overall. There was a bit of a rocky start - we arrived a little after 3 and had to wait about 45 minutes until our room was ready. The room was compact, but clean and modern, and above all it was quiet. The mid-town location cannot be beat. There are excellent restaurants just a block or two away, not to mention a Whole Foods and Lincoln Center. The roof deck is very nice, but don't go expecting a "pool" - it's just a small plunge pool. Would certainly stay here again.

The room was beautiful and the location was great! The only problem my husband and I had was that the AC didn't cool the room well (unless you like a steady 76 degrees)and the shower (although pretty) drained poorly. Otherwise a great stay.

although small we loved the room. the pool was a nice bonus during the hot summer days.

Staff were very nice, upon arrival (we arrived 3 hours early) we were told the room would be ready earlier than expected, so we left our bags and grabed lunch and we were able check in without a problem. Room was a little on the small side but acceptable for two people. The finish was to a very good standard. The bed, a decent size and extremely comfortable. We overlooked the back of the hotel so had minimal road noise but with no view! N.B. - The bathroom is very small, and the rooftop pool is tiny. Perfect location! A block from Central Park and a short walk from Columbus Circle (200m, very handy). The rooftop bar is excellent & very popular with the locals , however guests are aforded priority access. We both loved the hotel and would definitely look to stay there again.

We loved our stay at the Empire. The contemporary décor was hip, stylish, and ultra-modern. Recent renovations were clearly aimed at appealing to a younger demographic – this is not your traditional old school New York hotel. European finishes throughout make the property sleek and trendy. We loved everything about our stay here. The lobby was gorgeous, and the loungy reception area an inviting oasis just steps from Lincoln Center and a block from Central Park. The location alone makes this a desirable place to stay, but the degree of style and the attention to detail added an element of excitement we did not experience at the hotel we had stayed previously. The junior suite was small, but perfect for us. A large king size bed, 42” flat screen on the wall, pull-out queen couch, leather chair, mini refrigerator, and a bathroom so European I think I learned Swedish just taking a shower. We were also on the 11th (top) floor, with an obstructed view of Broadway and Central Park. Desk staff warned us that there might be some noise at night from the rooftop bar, which has become quite popular since the renovation. But we heard nothing and slept in comfort. The bed was probably the best bed I’ve slept in anywhere…seriously. Staff was polite and courteous, greeting us at the door and all throughout the hotel wherever we encountered them. My wife enjoyed a spa treatment on property while our son and I checked out the rooftop pool. Yes, a rooftop pool. Any review of this hotel would not be complete without a discussion of the pool. First of all, don’t let the pictures fool you – it is not a “swimming” pool. It’s a wading pool about the width of an Olympic LANE…very narrow, and unheated. That said, we found it extremely refreshing and relaxing on a hot August afternoon. Some have complained about the size of the pool, but I don’t think they understand the spirit of its existence. It’s a novelty that contributes to the ambience of the rooftop. The fact that you can actuall

have been to NYC many times but had never stayed at this hotel. Its in a great midtown location not far from the subway and has the most most amazing roof top bar and pool. Very comfortable bedroom and super clean bathroom - I will definitely return!

For such a great rate in Lincoln Center, I didn't expect this hotel to be this nice. Bed was comfy and clean, couldn't hear noise from neighbors or hallways. I was disappointed with the service (slightly snooty, lots of people running around but only one guy actually working at front desk), and a few broken things in the room that could have been fixed easily. Sink drain was broken -- had to lift drain up by hand each time (yech), back of curtains were stained. While the bar/lobby had great atmosphere, the waitress claimed they didn't serve food, and then the restaurant claimed they closed at 10pm, tho the literature said otherwise. We ended up calling for room service which was fast and quite good. go figure.

This was my first time at the hotel since their major renovations, and the experience was great. Junior Suite room was spacious and well-appointed. Rooftop bar offers a great view of the city. Personnel (especially lobby bar staff) were friendly and courteous. Will definitely stay here again.

When I arrived at the room, there was another guests clothes in the closet. I had to go back to the front desk to change rooms. Overall, this was not a good hotel for the money I paid. I would not stay here again.

This hotel has been stylishly renovated and the small rooms have been cleverly designed, but our bathroom sink did not drain properly and the bathroom had no exhaust fan, leaving the entire bathroom moist and slimy for a better part of the time spent in the room. The windows are leaky, making the rooms noisy all night. The A/C unit was really noisy and did not work very well.

Hotel decor was fun and funky. Kids dubbed it the coolest hotel we have stayed at. Rooms were small but nicely appointed. Great city view from ninth floor. Lots of people lined up for rooftop bar via private elevator but no noise in the room or on the roof deck (just above the roof bar) that reserved for hotel guests. The kids loved the roof deck. There is a small lap pool, cool furnishings and a wonderful view. A great place to relax after walking the city. Columbus Circle is a couple of blocks away for subway and taxis always available in front of hotel. We found great restaurants within walking distance.

The elevator call buttons are confusing. Apparently there are buttons on two walls but only one functions. this is a beautiful hotel...pricy but really nice. The showers are unique: no shower curtain and the water comes from the ceiling or a wand. The floor of the shower is wood that feels really different under foot. And the wall covering in shower may need to be replaced in my room. I'd stay here again...actually this is my third stay

This hotel was over-priced for the amount of space that we got. We could hardly turn around in the room. It was so crowded that we refused clean-up service to keep our items in tact. Even though, we refused cleaning service, we requested towels each day. They still weren't able to send us the right amount of towels (and our requests were specific). If you are a single traveler, this may be the hotel for you. But, if you have more than 2 travelers, this is not the place for you.

Thought the rooms were cramped, but the hotel was beautiful and the neighborhood was great. Not enough towels and had to call housekeeping several times throughout the week for fresh towels.

The room was clean when we arrived but never vacuum in the five days we stayed there. They also kept removing our face clothes but not replacing even after we called house keeping to complain twice. Junior suite was clean and spacious. The location and room service were great.

Here are some criticisms: 1) Check-out time is noon. Check-in is 3 PM. I arrived 3:45 and had to wait nearly an hour to go to my room. (612) 2) The room had very little closet space and what it had was at an inconvenient height to hang clothing. 3) I had difficulty getting the shower to operate. One day it produced water; the next not. 4) There is only half a shower door so water got on the floor. There was no floor mat the first day. 5) I found the wash basin uncomfortable to use. 6) the overnight parking fee was excessive. Here is a kudo: 1) I was extremely pleased how the hotel had been upgraded. The last time I was with you (2003?) the accommodations were shabby; the room cramped; the beds bad. However, I think all the wonderful improvements did not justify the increase in rates.

Great location and room nicely appointed and reasonably quiet for NYC. Service was delivered with an unnecessary attitude each time I interacted with a staff member. Would recommend based on location and price I paid.

This is my 3rd stay at The Empire; it's due to the location, directly across from Lincoln Center. Unlike my stay last December, I had hot water (immediately) this time. There was some sort of maintenance activity going on in the afternoons. At first, I thought it was a jackhammer outside, but it turned out to be something happening somewhere in the building, and, it happened on Monday and Tuesday. So much for my afternoon cat naps. However, very quiet on my floor at night. The beds, and the rooms in general, are very comfy. Considering it's NY, they are quite roomy.

overall a very good experience with a few drawbacks. 1st, our room was still not ready at 5:30pm. We were told it still needed to be inspected. After I asked to speak to another front desk person, we were given a different room other than the one not ready for us. This room was on the 11th floor. I would NOT recommend staying on this floor unless you are up really late at night and the sound of the bass from the adjacent bar at the pool deck will not bother you. Other than that, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, the location was great and it was a very "New York" experience.

The standard room was quite small, but perfectly adequate with classy decor and quality amenities in the bathroom. One stays there for the location, after all, so this was not an issue. I wish I had known about the pool and lounge deck upstairs--we would have brought bathing suits! We would stay there again.

The decor is nice. The location is a plus - you have access to a number of different subway lines, restaurants, etc. The staff at Center Cut, the bell service staff, and at least one of the bartenders at the Lobby Bar were all very friendly and helpful. Room service was decent - you have to call to get ice (one time it took over an hour to get it, another time only a few minutes). When we checked in, we were missing a bath mat and the shower overflowed a few times. The room was a decent size, but the bathroom was quite small. The pool is about the third of the size of a regular pool. Prepare to be interrogated going in and out of the hotel when the rooftop bar is open.

this hotel is in a great location for lincoln center. The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable

I know 2 names, Peter and Samantha, but the whole staff is wonderful

The absolute perfect location if you love Lincoln Center and are attending any performances there. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed and there is an excellent restaurant (Center Cut) attached to the hotel.
