Raffaello Hotel - Chicago

hotel is zeer comfortabel, grote kamer, maar staat van onderhoud valt iets tegen: bij aankomst deed de tv het niet, gordijnroede beleef 2 dagen lang op tafel liggen, pas bij schriftelijk verzoek werd e.e.a. in orde gemaakt. Bij receptie staan steeds 2 personen achter de balie (wv 1 stagiair?), maar weinig service. er wordt geschermd met een 'servicecenter' met pc, maar geen enkele pc (3) functioneerde tijdens ons verblijf van 5 nachten.

Het hotel ligt strategisch tov de winkelstraat en pal naast hangcok tower. Misschien iets te ver weg van het conferentie centrum. Kamerdeur sluit niet perfect en heeft grote kier. Vermijd kamers op de 2e etage achter.

Het hotel is niet duur en toch prima. Ligt op de hoek van de Mies van der Rohe straat, maar eigenlijk in de Delaware, en die komt na plm 100m uit op de Lake Shore Drive, en wordt daar geflankeerd door de 4 Mies buildings! (Voor diegenen die een architetuurreis maken is het mooi om de dag te beginnen in de Mies van der Rohe straat, toch?) De kamer is prima, hoewel de kleinste die er is, ruim genoeg, heel lekker bed, prima douche met heel grote douchekop, magnetron op de kamer, goed licht, rustig gelegen en toch vlakbij centrum, erg vriendelijk personeel, goed ontbijt (scrambled eggs, worst, spek, aardappels), gratis koffie staat de hele dag klaar in de lobby, goede voorzieningen (business center met computers). O en nog zo'n undocumented feature: elke dag hangt er een verse krant (Chicago Tribune) aan je deur! Enige minpuntje: internet is heel duur: kost $ 4,95 voor een kwartier! In de onmiddellijke nabijheid zijn talloze goede restaurants (State en Rush street).

We found this very nice hotel, in a great location, for about the same price as lower level chain hotels way out from downtown. It was very nice and the staff was great. Four girls stayed in a standard room and we didn't feel as cramped as we usually do packing into a room like that.

This hotel is beautiful and the service is great. Considering the prices of hotels in Chicago, we got a great deal for the holiday weekend.

Great room for the money.

Hotel very clean and updated. Great food at restaurant. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to walk to Navy Pier and also only 1 block from Michigan Ave. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved the boutique feel to the hotel. The rooftop balcony was beautifully designed and being able to look straight up to the John Hancock building was quite awesome. The room was very comfortable; soft pillows; luxurious shower; great atmosphere. The hotel didn't smell like a hotel; there was a lovely scent floating throughout the entire building, but it wasn't overpowering, just added to the relaxing atmosphere. It was a block from Magnificent Mile; so convinent to everything. I would definitely stay there again.

We loved our stay at the Rafaello Hotel. It is ideally located for shopping and restaurants. The staff were very professional. Parking was adjacent to the hotel at reasonable rates, and our room was spacious and well appointed.

Friendly service. When the restaurant/bar becomes fully operational it will be even better.

Lovely and comfortable. I'd read reviews that the service isn't so great, but I'm a low-maintenance guest, had no need for service, and found the place excellent.

Walking distance to Navy Pier. Nice interior remodels. Helpful front desk, I forgot the camcorder bag, called front desk while on the road, they help me to retrieve it instead of sending me to lost and found. Will stay again

The Raffaello Hotel is "almost" adjacent to the John Hancock tower, two blocks from Michigan Ave and two blocks from Lake Michigan.

The Raffaello was ideally located. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the rooftop patio - awesome views! Our room was small, but clean and very comfortable. The only negative was that there was no restaurant operating on the premisis. The sign stated that it was due to open sometime this fall. However, the roomservice was convenient and very good.

I have stayed in all the surrounding hotels over the past couple of years, and the Raffaello far surpasses its neighbors in value. Let's not tell anybody else about this little gem, let it be booked completely the next time I travel to Chicago.

From the minute we checked in, we were very pleased with the Raffaello Hotel. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and upgraded our room from a double double-bed room to a king-bed suite at no extra charge. The room itself was updated and clean, and the bed was very comfortable with a down comforter instead of a traditional hotel bedspread that never seems clean. The bathroom was great- very modern and clean, with a huge partially open shower with a detachable/handheld shower head. Beyond the room itself, the location was great, especially for the money- only a block or two off of Michigan Avenue. We will definitely go back!

The Raffaello was great. This was my second stay, and im already planning for a third. Great locatio, staff, building everything was great.

close to michigan ave, and bus routes, clean room, nice shower, not the best hotel, but worth the price we paid.

Rooms are clean, updated and very comfortable. Micro and Frig and more....... Gym is adequate, Staff is friendly and helpful and all GREAT.

The location was great! It was a really charming and modern hotel.

Excellent location within walking distance of attactions and restaurants. Hotel staff was very accomodating and pleasant. We were upgraded to a suite that was well appointed, clean, and comfortable. This hotel has an above-average fitness center. The restaurant was in renovation. I am not sure if it will have a bar, but this is not an issue given the location.

1. HVAC was turn down to Max Room Temp was 68 deg 2. Refrig was also turned all the way down so all the mini bar soda was frozen. 3. Owner Closet door was only partial secured. 4. Only one robe furnished for a double double. 5. Only 2 hangers in closet 6. Toilet paper holder loose on wall The room needs to be check all little better prior to arrival of guests

I enjoyed my stay at the Rafaello. I was there for 4 nights and did not have any complaints. The room was large, nice,comfortable bed with nice linens, and everything was clean and well maintained. It was an easy walk and/or short cab ride to many main attractions. My only comment is that the concierge was only minimally helpful. I typically rely on the concierge for help/tips on getting around, restaurant recommendations, etc., so that was a bit disappointing to me.

This hotel was exactly what I was looking for. It was just a few steps from Michigan Avenue, allowing us quick access to downtown Chicago. The king room had a large bed and the cleaning service was SPECTACULAR! Also, I don't believe the pictures show the hotel's roof. It is open to guests with lawn chairs laid out amongst elegant landscaping and it's open until 11 pm.

Our stay at The Raffaello Hotel couldn't have been better. We have traveled in Europe and The Raffaello ranks among the top in accomidations!

Our stay was very nice, the staff was very prompt and helpful whenever we needed anything from directions to room service and a "user error" issue with the television.

Small lobby and elevators excluded, this hotel was outstanding. Very friendly and professional staff, including the parking garage attendant. The location is outstanding, close walk to many things including great restaurants...I never had to take a cab or use my car. The parking charge ($23 per day) is a bargain, in Chicago, and was very convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

JUST A BLOCK AWAY FROM MICHIGAN AVENUE. THE AREA FEELS VERY SAFE. THE DOOR PERSONNEL WERE OUTSTANDING, VERY HELPFUL WITH INFORMATION ON DINING, DIRECTIONS AND CITY KNOWLEDGE. THE ONLY NEGATIVE WAS THE SIZE OF THE ROOM. WE ENDED UP IN A CORNER, AND SEEING THE ROOM DIAGRAM ON THE DOOR, LOOKED LIKE THE SMALLEST ROOM ON THE FLOOR. THANKFULLY, WHEN WE ARE IN CHICAGO...WE'RE OUT MOST OF THE TIME!

The Hotel Raffaello in downtown Chicago is a nice alternative to some of the bigger and more expensive options in the same neighborhood. While their restaurant was not open due to renovations and that was missed, it was still a stylish, safe and quite comfortable place to stay. Housekeeping was a bit disorganized on the weekend I was there, but overall the room was clean, attractive and supplied with every necessity.

This is a great place to stay and very convinient to wonderful locations. I definite recomend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a comfortable place to stay at a convinient rate. The magnificent mile just around the corner as well as the main attractions like the Navy Pier, great restaurants and shopping centers.

This hotel has NO amenities - like ZERO food service, ZERO convenience machines - not even an ice maker. However, it was a decent value for Chicago. Let's face it - large cities have expensive hotels. This hotel is on block of the shopping mile - thus they think that their location should factor into their quality. It is convenient - the people are nice - but the facility could be better for the rating. I would probably try another hotel - if I could find a comparable place for the dollar - if not - I would go back.

We arrived late on Saturday night and were told at reception that the "two doubles" room we had booked was not available for that night alone and they were putting us in a suite with a bed made up on the sofa in the sitting room. Because it was the Hotel's mistake, there would be no extra charge and we would have the choice of staying in our suite or reverting to the two doubles room from Sunday night. The sofa bed was uncomfortable and we asked for a roll out bed which was provided so we decided to stay in the suite for the duration. The only problem was that there was a lot of noise from the street early on weekday mornings. to be fair, we were on the third floor on the corner of the building on a junction so it may not be an issue in other rooms.

Great room for the price and the service was helpful when ever we need help. I would stay again.

The room and staff definitely exceeded the expectations put out there by different comments. While the building itself seemed to be very old and classic, the rooms were fairly modern but still maintained the "old charm" that I had hoped for. The staff was very inviting and spoke upon every exit/entrance. The proximity to various locations was ideal (a couple blocks to wonderful shopping and restaurants). If only I had booked a few more days at the Raffaello!

There's very little I can say that is positive about our stay at the Raffaello. 1. The location was great (it really is a short walk to the Magnificent Mile and Grant Park.) 2. The doormen were very nice. 3. The room was clean. So much for the positive, here's all the negative: 1. We were asked to present a credit card upon check-in (as we would expect.) But since we only had a debit card they had to deduct $100 per day out of our account and said that after check-out it wouldn't be refunded to our account for as many as 15 days! 2. The room was about as big as a closet (this is the king-suite.) When walking around the end of the bed we had to be careful not to bash our knees on the dresser because it was so close. 3. The one and only full-length mirror in the room was placed on a wall facing the bedside table and the headboard of the bed. The only possible way of utilizing this mirror would be to slide the table out of the way, or stand on the bed. 4. When they cleaned our room between the first and second nights, the hairdryer disappeared. They didn't empty the water out of the ice bucket. Also we weren't given any clean glasses. 5. Speaking of glasses, there were only 2 in the entire room. So apparently we were supposed to have a drink in the evening and then rinse out the same glass to use for brushing our teeth. 6. The internet wouldn't allow me to log on using our name and room number, so I had to call the front desk in order to get a special pass-code. 7. The restaurant connected with the hotel was closed so there was no room service. They offered some breakfast, but I think they were having an employee walk to another restaurant in order to fetch the food for guests in their own hotel (we saw an employee one morning walking down the sidewalk with a covered serving tray.) 8. They did not make it clear that the price they quoted for parking was a per day price. So we were surprised by the charge as we checked out. We will definitely never stay in this hote

Highly Recommended - Would definitely go back there, when I next visit Chicago. Great location also.

The restaurant was not open yet due to construction works and the room was a bit little. On the other hand, there was a shoe polishing machine in the room, kitchenette, fridge, dvd-player which was over the expectations. Staff was very friendly. Overall very good memories.

Reserved and paid for 2 nights in "deluxe suite", ended up sleeping in "king size" room during first night due to overbooking... Nobody mentioned word "sorry" No rebates "Please contact the retailer you used for reservation if you want any money back / discounted price" Very dissapointed. Will not recommend this place to anyone

The hotel needs to inform guests that the security charge to be held on the credit card if $100 per night. I thought this was a bit over the top since I've stayed in many hotels and the security hold would never reach that much. After protesting about lack of notice, I was treated well, and upgraded to a Grand Suite for no charge.
