Roosevelt Hotel New York - New York

Our room was a good deal price wise, and we were expecting a simple place, but this room just didn't cut it in this day and age. A view on a gutter like building core, full of cigarette buds and rotten wood, jars of tar and other crap. The bath didn't retain water due to a broken plug system. The hair dryer kept over heasting after 30 secs, the furniture and items in the room are just too old; it needs refurbishment. Lastly, how much trouble is it to put a water boiler or coffee maker in the room. There was just nothing there as a service and while it can be cheap, it makes such a difference to the customer. Give this a try only if you need a roof over your head while doing an intensive visit of NYC that'll keep you out of the hotel until you're tired enough not to care. Don't be fooled by the romantic lobby; that feeling will pass as soon as you've waited 4 minutes for an elevator and seen your room.

het hotel heeft een perfecte ligging,vlakbij 5th av. centraalstation , time square.... met de metro ben je overal direct bij. Het hotel was in een goede buurt,weinig nacht lawaai. de kamers waren proper,juist de badkamer was een beetje ouderwets.een echte aanrader. de shuttle bus naar de luchthaven is geen aanrader ,je kan buiten gewoon een taxi nemen voor het hotel.

Wij zijn van 23 tot 27 juni in het hotel geweest en hebben een erg leuke tijd in New York gehad, wat ook mede lag aan het feit dat het hotel erg centraal ligt. Tevens was het hotel in goede staat en was het personeel erg behulpzaam. 's Ochtends konden wij lekker wakker worden met Starbucks beneden in de lounge, dat verkocht het hotel namelijk 's ochtends. Al met al een hele leuke tijd gehad in het Roosevelt hotel.

Mooi hotel op een perfecte plek in de stad. Metro, winkels en parken dichtbij. Service was snel en vriendelijk. Hotel heeft alle comfort die je mag verwachten. Lobby en entree zijn luxe, de kamer was gedateerd, maar alles heel, schoon en netjes. Prima bed!

Tijdens het verblijf had ik 1 vervelend incident met iemand van de receptie. Toen de hotelcomputer mijn credit card weigerde, was er volgens de receptie maar 1 mogelijkheid, onvoldoende saldo. Omdat dat niet kon, was ik bang voor fraude met mijn kaart. Ik kon niet op een andere manier in het hotel mijn saldo checken. Moest dus laat op de avond de straat op om een internetcafe te zoeken (kreeg nog verkeerde aanwijzingen mee van de receptie). Bij controle bleek gelukkig dat mijn creditcard OK was. Dus toen ik anderhalf uur later weer terug was in het hotel heb ik het voorval aan de manager uitgelegd die gelukkig excuses maakte. Was heel spannend en vervelend.

Het hotel was erg mooi! Zeker bij binnenkomst in de hal, zag er netjes uit. Slaapkamer was zeer netjes en er werd dagelijks netjes verschoond. De badkamer was klein, maar wel netjes; basic, maar goed. Wij zouden hier zeker nog eens terugkomen als we weer in New York zijn; centrale ligging.

Een prima hotel, met ontzettend gezellige bar/lounge. Ook heeft het een rooftop bar (mad46) maar daar zijn wij niet aan toe gekomen. Een erg goed hotel voor een hele goede prijs, maar bovenal is de locatie absoluut PER-FECT! Het hotel is echt top gelegen in midden manhattan. Wij kunnen dit hotel zeer aanraden!

Prima hotel, goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Zeer centraal gelegen. Alle attracties op loopafstand. Prima bedden, mooie ruime kamers. Wil er zeker terug en zal het bij vrienden en kennissen aanbevelen.

Klassiek en groot hotel op centrale locatie in NYC (45th St): Central Park, Times Square, Empire Statebuilding, Top of the Rock op loopafstand. Wij hadden een keurige kamer en kregen elke dag schoon beddegoed en handdoeken. Wel veel lawaai van buiten, maar wat wil je midden in New York. Hotel staat vlakbij Grand Central Station, zodat ook de metro goed bereikbaar is. Kortom: zeer aanbevelingswaardig.

Prachtige entree en lobby, in het hart van Manhattan gelegen, ideale locatie om lopend van alles te ondernemen. Grand Central Station voor de deur. Kamers zijn niet groot maar de bedden zijn perfect. Heerlijk slapen na een dag actief bezig zijn. Aanrader.

Location is perfect. Rooms are small, but this is normal in NY. We reccomend this hotel to anyone we is visiting NY for a holiday.

Hotel heeft een perfecte ligging, wel erg druk en niet echt vriendelijk personeel. Heeft wel alle faciliteiten die gemakkelijk zijn voor toeristen,goede info desk.

Een week verbleven met vier mensen op één kamer. Zeer nette kamer met lcd tv. Goede douche. Kamer wordt elke dag netjes schoongemaakt. Ontbijten deden we zoals elke New Yorker buiten de deur. Keuze zat! Locatie is zeer goed. Ruim 10 minuten lopen van Times Square en maar 5 min van Grand Central.

Wij hebben al eerder overnacht in het Roosevelt voor werkdoeleinden. Dit maal voor een weekje NYC. Dit hotel is prima qua ligging, dicht bij Grand Central, waar vandaan alle subway lijnen lopen. Op deze wijze ben je snel en makkelijk op alle adressen van Manhattan en daarbuiten, zoals Williamsburg, Queens, DUMBO etc. Het hotel ligt in een zakenwijk dus in het weekend is het stil op straat. Er zijn weinig ontbijtadresjes in de buurt. Ga niet naar de "Red Flame" tenzij je met allemaal toeristen wil zitten. In Grand Central kun je snel wat eten en anders is er een Starbuck direct om de hoek. De kamers zijn klein maar voldoen. Voor 50-100 dollar per nacht meer krijg je niet zo maar veel grotere kamers. Wij zaten wel lekker in een stille gang op een van de bovenste verdiepingen. Zorg, maar dat geldt voor elk hotel, dat je niet bij de liften je kamer hebt, zeker niet op een lagere verdieping. De boeking verliep vlot via Hotels.com. In het hotel was alles bekend en konden we snel naar onze kamer. De kamer was netjes en werd keurig schoon gehouden elke dag. Vergeet niet het kamermeisje 5 USdollar fooi te geven per nacht!! Afmelden ging ook soepel en de koffers konden de rest van de dag voor 1 dollar opgeslagen worden. Perfecte week in een goed hotel!

This is a well presented hotel right in the heart of mid town Manhattan. It boasts a splendid and quite opulent foyer with staff on hand to assist when needed. It has a bar/restaurant on site and seems to be popular for the convention circuit. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable although the bathroom looked a little tired it was still clean. I would be happy to return to this hotel at a future date. Whilst a complimentary shuttle service to JFK was not included they do have an arrangements in hand and you'll need to speak to the concierge about this and a 1 way trip cost approx $40 for 2 but it drops you to the terminal from the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel was close to all the main attractions - only about a fifteen minute walk to Macy's, Central Park, and Times Square, with Fifth and Madison Avenues practically on the doorstep. The hotel itself is very beautiful inside, with opulent marble and chandeliers. The room was comfortable and very clean, though there was noise outside one night that made it difficult to sleep. This was due to roadworks, though, so nothing to do with the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Food and drink in the hotel itself is expensive, though, and you can find cheaper places to eat down the street. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.

Hotel lobby was fantastic - very grand. Location is very good, 15mins from the Empire State Building and 10 mins from Times Sq. The room we stayed in seemed pleasent at first but soon discovered that the bathrroom was very pokey as it was hard to get into between opeening the door and the edge of the shower. Shower ddoor wouldn't close properly and the shower head didn't seem to get much pressure and so the water didn't comee at as fast as we would like.

Great hotel with a convenient location--close to many major attractions and easy walk to the metro.

I was a very nice lookiin hotel which was very close the Grand Central Station fr the subway and right down from Times Square and could walk to all great places.

we had a small problem with our room when the headboard came loose from the wall. When I notified the front desk they were very understanding and upgraded our room. We ended getting an amazing room and could not have been more pleased with our stay.

The hotel lobby is very nice and inviting. The staff at this hotel is not friendly. The front desk employee's don't look up from their computers nor do they greet you or smile at all. I find it very strange that when having your bags held by the hotel that the bellhop looks at your and says "follow me" and makes you carry your own bags up stairs and to a room where he then grabs them from you hands you a ticket and walks away. Very strange.

Dependable as always. The condition of the room was fine. Quiet as i requested. They upgraded me to a King at no extra cost.

Extremely satisfied with the Roosevelt. The location was great - very close to a lot of NYC attractions. Our room was small, but that was expected. It was clean and in pretty good condition. The only problem we encountered was very rusty/dirty water coming from the shower faucet. It only happened once though. when we called the front desk, they said it was due to the age of the hotel and to just let the water run for a bit. We were on the 17th floor - the nightclub is on the 19th or 20th. We could hear the music on Satudray night, so if you want quiet, request a lower floor.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The airconditioning was great! The location, especially so close to Grand Central Station made getting around town a breeze. The hotel was completely sold out but there was never any noise from the hallway or other rooms.

The Roosevelt is like a hotel from another era; a classic New York style hotel. The doorman, who seemingly never slept, was exceptionally kind and helpful. The entire staff made us feel at ease, and the decor of the hotel felt like a travel back to the 20's. The restaurants and bars on site made this a convenient and romantic getaway. Thanks, we will se you again!

A very elegant hotel with friendly staff. We really enjoyed staying at this luxurious hotel and the roof garden bar was magical at night. It is in a very good location close to Central Station, ideal for travelling on public transport or just enjoying the architecture of the building and about 5 minutes walk to Times Square. We had two rooms, one room was good and the other room was fantastic, we all enjoyed this fabulous hotel. I booked a weekend special offer which also made it good value!

For the price, I expected another old hotel that comes off stuffy, harboring odors from days gone by. That was not the case at all. There is a bit of history tied to the place that made it more enjoyable. The place is huge. The 6 elevator banks are a bit slow, but sufficient. Rooms are on the contemporary side. Large lobby is majestic and comfortable at once. The large European contingency that chooses to stay here often requires you to push through a wall of cigarette smoke outside with folks sating their addictions, but New York is no stranger to smokers. I'd stay here again.

...what else do you need to know? I wish I lived at the Roosevelt.

I feel for the cost of the room that internet service should be included. I stayed at another hotel in NYC with did include internet for the same cost!

We had a wonderful time in NYC and the Roosevelt was a big part of it. You cannot do better for midtown. Broadway, Times Square are a short walk and Grand Central Station is half a block. The price was reasonable and the room, although small, was exactly what we needed. The bed was comfortable, the furnishings clean, and the service excellent. The negatives. There was no coffee maker in the room (a mostly standard feature in the hinterlands). Internet service is $15 per night. It was rather nice being out of touch and when we wanted to connect, Barnes and Noble had free internet, 8AM to 9PM, one block away. Still it was irritating. As others have noted here, the front desk staff can be brusk, although for our stay that behavior was one out of three and the service staff was uniformly helpful. The positives far outweigh the negatives. The public areas are awesome. The room was delightful. Did I mention Location?

This was a best location for our activities in the city. Within walking distance to everything. The room was super comfortable, I will definitely be back!

Location was great! Less than 1 block to Central Station. Hotel is nice; lobby is beautiful!. Employees were very courteous and helpful. Positive: Room was clean; Bed was comfortable. Restroom was clean - although small. Negative: Toiletries were rationed! The room we were in I believe is moldy. My husband's allergies would flare during our stay in the hotel. Overall, our experience was pleasant.

1st impression is great with a fantastic lobby (but you don't sleep there) we were upgraded to a bigger room (with 2 teenage girls); this room was fairly big with plenty of room, however the air con was very noisy and the bathroom was very shabby and needs a complete overhaul even the door didn't completely shut. we didn't mind that much as we only slept here rather than used it as a living quarters. the drinks in the bar were expensive ($15 for 2 beers) and bar staff were misrable. the location was good with deli's etc within 5 mins and times sq etc within 20 mins for walking. I wouldn't say it was bad but it definitely needs a refurb.

I stayed here while on vacation, 8/17-8/21/09, with my children who are 10 and 7 yrs old. This hotel is central to most tourist attractions. We walked everywhere except for when we went to staten island. I had the superior room with 2 double beds. The size wasn't bad at all, I had been afraid it would be too small based on some reviews I'd read before my arrival. The purpose of our visit was to tour the city so we barely spent any time in the hotel other than sleeping. I didn't have to ask for anything extra. An iron and ironing board in one of the closets. Plenty of closet space and hangers and dresser drawers for all our clothes. The bathroom had a tub and shower. Plenty of towels every day. I have to say that the bathtub wasn't attractive at all, it was pretty old and discolored in some spots. I wish it looked better so I could have soaked in it after those long days of walking. There's also a business room with computers and printers. I was disappointed that you have to pay to access the internet. You'd think they could afford to provide this as a courtesy to the guests.

Who goes to NYC to stay inside a hotel the whole time?! Roosevelt was about two blocks from Grand Central, the staff was ready and eager to help, and the facilities such as bar, lounge, and elevators were satisfactory. Those are the positives, the downside was how TINY our room was- two double beds stuffed into a room a little bigger than my walk-in closet. It was sufficient for our purpose in visiting NYC, just a little disappointing. Nonetheless, a very enjoyable experience.

Rather old fashioned but well located. Chaotic checkin

The hotel's location is only a few minutes walk from American Girl Place, Build A Bear, World of Disney, Times Square, NBC Studios, Grand Central Station and Central Park. The only problem we had was the vending and ice machines on our floor did not work, but a trip up the stairs to the next floor was better than the elevator as the stairwell was located near the vending room.
