volkomen verouderd, versleten vloerbedekking, vieze gangen, geen ontbijtservice, krappe toiletten, geen lift, ramen kunnen niet open, lawaaierige airco, wel vriendelijk en zeer behulpzaam personeel. Goede ligging t.o.v metro

Wij hadden 2 weken geboekt bij dit hotel omdat de prijs goed was. Hotel werd onder handen genomen, maar dat wisten wij van te voren. De kamers zijn klein en eenvoudig, geen luxe. Uitrusten doe je er niet echt, geen stoelen om even te zitten bv. 1e Kamer die we kregen was de airco van stuk. Na melding werden we gelijk naar een andere kamer geplaatst, prima dus. Het hotel is geschikt om te slapen en meer ook niet. Verwacht geen luxe en de plaatjes op de site zijn niet up to date. Ligging is ideaal, leuke buurt met eettentjes en best wel rustig. Metro is 1 blok verderop, heel erg handig.

Hotel Belnord ligt goed centraal. De subway is om de hoek en binnen tien minuten sta je op Times Square. Wij hadden geen eigen badkamer, maar er zijn op de gang meerdere badkamers en toiletten die schoon zijn. Wij hadden een kleine kamer. Steeds schone handdoeken. Goed bed (niet te hard of zacht).Personeel aan de balie niet bijzonder vriendelijk. Konden er onze koffers niet enkele dagen voor inchecken kwijt (ivm aanslagen zeiden ze). Zou er wel weer heen gaan als we naar New York gaan.

Wij wilden new York zien en de hotel kamer was enkel nodig voor de overnachting. Hieraan voldeed dit hotel ruimschots. De sanitaire voorzieningen (shared showers) was perfect een lekkere straal warm water en netjes schoon.

De kamer was prima, 'basic' maar netjes. Ook de badkamer was schoon, wel klein. De kamers met 1 bed zijn wel klein, maar als je een kamer neemt met 2 bedden dan is de grootte precies goed. Geen enkele op of aanmerkingen en het hotel ligt op loopafstand van een metro station!

Het hotel ligt ideaal gelegen, vlakbij de belangrijkste metrolijn van NY (Broadway). Het hotel op zich stelt niet heel veel voor. Maar zolang je er echt alleen wilt slapen is het goed te doen. Je moet in ieder geval geen extra's verwachten. De kamers zijn heel klein en het bed is ook aan de kleine kant. Maar ja voor die prijs in NY kan je nou eenmaal niet veel verwachten. Als je wat luxer gewend bent om te reizen is dit helemaal niks, voor backpackers daarentegen is het ideaal denk ik. Verder zijn er 3 douches op de gang en heb je in je slaapkamer niks meer dan een bed en een klein hokje voor je koffers.

The room was extremely small. No room to move. Bathroom tiny, could not have bath there. You would not want to be an overweight person. No daylight through the window as next to another building. Would not know if it was day or night in the room. However room was clean, in good location and reasonably priced. Would not book in here if staying for a long period in the city.

The Hotel Belnord is a budget hotel on Manhattan and you get what you pay for. Small rooms, no frills, service level basic. But it works. Beds are OK, room was clean. Ice available if you want to cool your drinks. And you don't want to spend your days in the room when you are in New York!

The hotel was actually really nice and clean and in a great area, right next to the subway....the downsides for me were the size of the room, hilariously small, and while there is a beautiful flat screen tv, there's absolute crap programming on it. Though those are details that don't really matter if just want to enjoy the city.

Rooms are tiny, there is barely a place to stand. Bathroom is tiny as well. But room is very clean. Location is great. 1 block away from a red line subway station. 20 mins walking from times square. 1 minute from a starbucks.

We were extremely pleased with the motel location and room...as said in other reviews... the room is small, but you get an ultra clean and new room and private bath. Very pleased with service and loved the area. A block from the subway and numerous restaurants in area. Will stay again when we return to NYC!!

I've heard about how small the rooms were. Well... they were small. However, it sleeps great.

First time to NY and had heard the rooms were small, but 8 feet by 8 feet seemed more along the lines of microscopic. The place was clean though, in a great neighborhood, and less than a block from the 1 subway line. Central park, The Natty History Museum, and Zabar's were all within a few minutes walk as well. Great location and air conditioning, but not for the claustrophobic. Ideal hotel if you'ld rather spend money on enjoying the city than on a place to sleep.

I had read a number of reviews of this hotel, some of them positive, some of them negative. Turns out just about all the comments were true. The rooms are really small, probably smaller than my college dorm room. A large person would probably not be comfortable here, nor would someone who expects hotels to provide a lot of amenities. When I go to NY, I don't spend a lot of time in my hotel room. I want a clean, safe place, in a convenient location for a reasonable price. I felt I got all those things, and I would not hesitate to stay there again. At the same time, I know some people would not like it.

Beautiful hotel. Newly remodeled and clean. Great loacation between Central Park & Hudson River. Tiny rooms though. Do not underestimate how tiny they are. I mean very small. But excelent for sleeping & showering. Great Value!

Previous reviewers were right on when they said the room was small. The full size bed had about 2 feet of room on both sides and 3 feet at the end... just enough to climb in really. The duvet obviously hadn't been cleaned in a while, but the sheets and pillows were fine and I usually travel BYOB (bring your own blanket) anyway so no worries there. I was housed next to the elevator which had a loud ring and constant traffic all night, but slept with the Ipod on and was fine.The front desk never answered my phone calls, but provided me the wifi access code (FREE!!!) when I went down in person. For the price and location, I was more than happy with what I got, but I wasn't expecting much in the first place. The proximity to the 1 line subway was invaluable and made travel to and from the conference I was attending at City College NY a piece of cake. Lastly, I found a cheaper price on Belnord's website than on Hotels.com and they really do honor their price match guarantee! Nice!

If you're not comfortable in a tiny hotel room, don't stay here. But, for New York City, you can't beat the price, cleanliness, comfort and decent location of this hotel. Besides, who spends time in their hotel room in NY?

Yes, the rooms are tiny, but if you can handle that, you'll love it. The staff was friendly, room was spotless and recently renovated and the location can't be beat. I will never stay anywhere else in NYC, it was that good.

Front desk was not that warm and friendly but the hotel was clean. The rooms are small but comfortable.

It is in a good location and good neighborhood. The room & bath are clean, but the size of the room is really small. If you are by yourself & don't mind "really small" it is just fine.

Small room, but nice, clean, comfortable. If you're there in the summer, ask for a blanket. They assume that a top sheet is enough, but we found the air conditioning blowing right on us and a blanket would have been good. Neighborhood is terrific; walked to Central Park, then explored Riverside Park. Great restaurants, too.

The hotel looks like a small apartment building from the front and not a traditional hotel so it blends into the surrounding buildings nicely. It is located less than 2 blocks from the subway stop. there are a couple of places to eat, a supermarket and other stores within 3 blocks of the hotel. The room I had is just one room, about te size of a dorm room. there is a closet, a private bathroom attached and to my suprise, a flat screen tv on the wall. Too bad they didn't have anything in HD on the HDTV and they also don't give HBO or SHO. They do give free Wi-Fi so it worked fine with my iPhone 3g, but, you need a new passcode everyday which can be a pain. I was overall very happy with the room and liked the fact that there wasn't a lot of wasted space for what I needed which was a place to sleep! I had only one real complaint, under my floor which would be the ceiling of the 1st floor was a piece of equipment and I suspect it was an a/c unit for the room on the 1st floor, when it cycled on it vibrated the floor and you could feel it through the bed! Once i was asleep, I was alseep and didn't feel it nor did it wake me up. For the time I was awake it was a little bothersome, but not to the point that i thought i needed a room change. That was probably (I hope) just my room. I would be more than happy to stay there again, just not in that same room! It's a great value for the money and the hotel was very clean and quite.

i booked for 2 for a one night stay, and there were dirty cups next to the bed, and the AC took over 3 hours to cool down the room.

Friedly and helpful staff. Clean lobby, hallways and rooms. I opted for a private bath so I never saw the other floors. It was a pleasant stay.

Recently renovated, the Belnord is attractive, clean and modern. While the double with bath is small, the room was well appointed and very clean. Of the 4 or 5 hotels I have tried at this price point, the Belnord is by far the best value. Some rooms at other hotels are larger, but are either showing their age or with shared bath. I have settled on the Belnord as my hotel of choice at this price point.

My husband and I stayed overnight after a concert and we had a ball. The room is really small but it was just right for the night!

the room was clean, the initial front desk person was very welcoming. however the room was really small, even for nyc standards and when i did have a concern with printing in the business center, the front desk staff said they did not have any authority to assist me. I also heard them tell two other guests the same thing for different concerns they were having. all in all, if you need an affordable place, its decent, but id stay somewhere else next time.

The hotel was in a great location. It was close to the subway, shops and resturants. The room was extremely small it really just fit the full size bed, yet it was neat and modern because it had a plasma tv. The bathroom was a good size, but I saw a hair in my bath tub, which made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the room, although things looked clean. Based on the location for the price, I would stay there again. I stayed at a hotel near this location for the same price and it did not have a bathroom in the room. Its a great deal for someone staying in the city for a few days and just need a clean place to crash with all the basics.

We are a young couple, with no children with a huge desire to explore NY. This hotel works great. Good location, friendly area, near central park. The room is very, very small. This for sure is the smallest room I have ever been. But for us works great because we only sleep 4 to 5 hours, so we pass much of the time in this great city. If you want a cheap, good location hotel, this is the one.

The room was just perfect for the price. The area is excellent for shopping and a block away from the #1 Subway. 4 blocks away from the 86th st. subway station for the A&C trains. The room was small but if youre traveling to NYC im sure you just need a room to sleep! :)

In eight trips this year staying at different hostels and the Y, this was the best for the money - especially considering this trip I needed a double bed instead of shared bunks. Very nicely remodeled, very clean, very friendly staff, good location. My only beef (here and elsewhere): does anywhere in NY not have a rock-hard mattress?

The small double bed rooms at the lowest rates are situated in a apparently recently added annex to the hotel towards the courtyard. They are clean, brand new, quiet, but small and with little light. From window the opposite house's wall is about 3 ft away. Make sure you lock window before leaving the hotel. Service is basic but fully sufficient for anyone who anyway wants to be in the city all day. En suite bathroom. TV. Free wireless Internet. I presume it's a good deal for that location and comfort.

This is an excellent budget hotel if you just need a relaiable base to explore the city. The room was clean, if small with a great view of the opposite wall but as I only slept there that was fine. No restaurant here but so many great places to eat nearby, no problem. The Upper West Side is more of the 'real' New York with great bars, cafes and of course diners nearby. Just one block from the 86th St subway and a short stroll to Central Park. I woudl recommend, if teh price is right.

The Belnord is a good value for NYC. VERY close to a subway stop (86th and Broadway) and lots of cool shops and restaurants on Broadway to check out. The room, however, was a different story. Remember, this hotel is a good value for NYC, but the comfort of the rooms aren't what you would normally expect. Amenities are sparse--our room had just a bed, TV, desk--very plain. However, the internet is free and the water is always hot! The bathroom is ODD (think showering without a tub or shower curtains), but the water pressure was good. Overall, The Belnord was a good hotel and I would stay there again.

Great hotel, met all of my expectations, yes the room was small but I knew it going in,fine for a weekend. Very clean, will stay there again.

The hotel was clean and you do get your own bathroom. Everything was just very small. The room was about 60 SqFt Tops. Just large enough to fit a full bed and the smallest bathroom I have ever seen. It is also far from everything midtown, but there are some quaint shops close by. I am mixed as to whether I would visit again, but you cannot beat the price in NYC.

I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a basic room at a great location. The hotel was only 5 minutes from the subway and the neighborhood was nice. Also, we didn't pay that much for a room during the 4th of July weekend. We spent most of time out of the hotel so the size didn't bother us that much. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel, or if you are going with 3 or more people, you might think the room is too small. The hotel didn't have a lot of fancy features, but it was clean and reasonable.

This remodeled hotel is great for the location and discount prices. The room is well appointed and very clean. It's small, but who cares. The bathroom was really clean and also small. The front desk had much to be desired. The staff did everything they were asked of by us, but with very little friendliness. Most were short with their responses, or only paid attention to half of what we were asking. The free internet was fine. We had a decent wireless signal and decent throughput. The bad part is you have to request a code from the front desk every day for each device that needs access. I don't mind "authenticating" for service as to not give away free internet to the neighbors, but it should stay active for the entire stay before the code expires.

room is really small as heck, maybe a 10 by 8, I wouldn't recommend this room to anyone who can't breath in small enclosed areas. real clean and new thou...
