THIS HOTEL IS THE BEST IN JASPER BY FAR, OUR ROOMS WERE CLEAN COMFORTABLE AND HAD A GREAT LAKE VIEW. MOOSES NOOK FOOD IS EXCEPTIONAL BUT NOT CHEAP

This is not a conventional hotel. We were assigned a lodge as are all the guests. Our room had character, with a sitting room and a fireplace with logs which could be used in colder weather. Service was great with staff for example willing to pick guests up in golf buggys and take us to reception. The hotel is in a beautiful location and the grounds in excellent condiiton. The food was only average, less than what we expected. However the hotel is a great base to explore Jasper and surrounding area which is beautiful.

We had high hopes for the Jasper Park Lodge given its venerable reputation as THE historic hotel of Jasper. Driving in, we were impressed by the size of the grounds and the beauty of the setting. Their private lake, Lac Beauvert is stunning with its crystal clear water. Sadly you need to pay extra to take a boat out on it even if you are a guest. And we're not talking about a nominal fee here. The lodge itself is pleasant though dated, and the staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. The service here was impeccable overall. The biggest complaint we have was simply that we did not get what we were expecting given the money we were spending. First, not all rooms are in the main lodge. In fact most of the rooms are in cabins sprawled around the lodge. The cabin we stayed in was more like a Motor Lodge than a luxury resort hotel. The furnishings and fittings were outdated, with no luxury touches like a jetted tub. Further, there was no Air Conditioning so we were forced to make do with a ceiling fan and a tabletop oscillating unit on a very hot night. This would be fine for a bargain motel, mind you. But this was our splurge hotel we're talking about! This cabin layout also encourages families and groups of friends to stay at the lodge, which isn't itself a bad thing at all. But as a young couple on a romantic trip we were disheartened to fight for room in an overcrowded pool filled with squealing kids. Our meditative (and costly) paddle boat ride was punctuated by children yelling from other boats in the lake. There are 3 main restaurants in the hotel. The "fine dining" menu had stratospheric pricing, so we chose the "Moose's Nook" which is the middle range restaurant. The food was excellent but the ambience was lacking (worst lighting ever) and the prices were still rather high (we are from New York and this place would still be considered EXPENSIVE back home). Beautiful location but room a bit dated and needed a make-over. Little things like dirty wine glasses and no milk or cream for tea/coffee in room added to disappointment. However, any complaints were swiftly seen to.

The setting could not be better. Lovely and quiet. Food is far too pricey for what you get. Other ammenities...very good.

Although we only stayed one night, the hotel grounds and staff were FABULOUS! My husband and I had planned the trip through the Canadian Rockies, but only wished we had more time to spend at each location. Jasper was one of them. If you ever get the chance to spend more than one night, do adventure out and explore the many things to do. The hotel is a thumbs-up and would definitely recommend to others.

The central bar area is very comfortable, the food is good and the service was very friendly. The only problem was that, depite it being hot outside, the heat was on in the room when we checked in. We turned it off and went out. When we returned late evening we discovered that it was still on. Maintenance came and had to shut it off from outside the room. It never cooled off so even with a ceiling fan we couldn't sleep. We felt housekeeping should have checked- it was a hot day outside and shouldn't have been on in the first place. We hope the maintenance of other rooms is better.

The Jasper Park Lodge has many wonderful amenities. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff very responsive. The only thing we found challenging was being charged for internet service (when less priced hotels offer this for free) that was slow and sporadic at best. This would actually prevent us from visiting again due to the lack of reliability and frankly we felt it was a money grab from guests in general.

In parkland, by a lake, surrounded by mountains, this is a beautiful location, but the old accommodation is not up to the standard of other Fairmont hotels, even though it is just as expensive. The chalet rooms are old and show it. In blocks of five or six rooms, the soundproofing is very poor (beware crying babies and loud TV`s). Our deluxe room had two double beds, but each was quite small, and the bedding was not up to current super-comfort standards you expect in this class of hotel. Our bed actually collapsed when I sat on it (I`m 210 pounds). The "deluxe" room had no air-con, no in room safe, no easy chair, and a feeble shower. With a cracked window and cracked bathroom floor tiles (room 402) the rooms look long overdue for renovation. The main building has a reasonable "Hunting Lodge" feel to it, but it could be a long walk from your room - take a coat. We stay at a lot of good quality hotels worldwide, and the accommdations here are below standard.

Although the traffic director was not so friendly when we first arrived at the front lobby, we met many folks who were helpful, especially the fitness center people, Andrew. We took a nice walk around the lake and really enjoyed the breath taking scenaries. We would have play tennis if we have time.

Disaster

Even if the roads were being prepared the overall stay was wonderful and will return there soon. A 100% improvement over the Fairmont at Lake Louise which was absolutely a tourist ripoff as well as poor overall service.

Definitely five star-beautiful setting.

For reasons I do not know we were upgraded to a 'Junior Suite'. Very nice, two rooms, sitting room with an open fire. Very comfortable beds; bathroom was on the small side and could have done with a bit of TLC (e.g. wonky shelf). The setting is wonderful, and on looking out of the window the first morning, there was an elk and her young grazing in the garden. The holtel is 'plush' and very well staffed by friendly and efficient staff. The restaurant was good and the food excellent, but it was over priced for what it was and was a little 'pretentious'. Overall a very pleasant stay. Wish we had been there longer!

Need to get an upgraded room with regard to size. Hotel rooms are rustic but well kept.

Well located to hiking and viewing nature. A herd of Elk kept coming around in the early evening for their dinner of our bushes around our room. We really enjoyed seeing them so up close and natural. You need a full week here to really enjoy it. We were only there for 4 days.

The accomadations were outstanding, comfortable and luxurious. Room service was great! Beautiful scenery, too.

I recently spent two nights at this hotel (coming from the Lake Louise Fairmont)and, given some of the prior reviews, was pleasantly surprised (with both hotels). At both properties I was given upgraded rooms with wonderful lake and mountain views and in Jasper a huge balcony. The property in Jasper is beautiful with a lake for boating and horse back riding available. The room itself was simple and comfortable, but could use some updating. I was in the main building and did not see the cabins which comprise most of the hotel. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend the property.

no wireless internet connection in room and the coffee maker was just filthy. there was a hot pot in the room, but the plug was pretty much inaccessible from the table. the location was great and very relaxing. the fitness room should be open 24 hrs. otherwise, everything else was fantastic.

Ein Resort zum Entspannen

Für den Preis hätten wir mehr erwartet. Möbel waren recht abgewohnt. Auch das Bad hätte dringend eine Renovierung nötig.
