Deer Lodge - Lake Louise

We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed the hotel. The location was great for our hikes and the hot tub brought welcome relief to our tired muscles. The staff was very friendly and helpful in every way. The room was small but met our needs and the common sitting room was lovely

While reservations were made 7 mos in advance, we were given a third floor room with only one operating window w/o a screen. While Lake Louise had higher than avg. temps the window was closed upon our arrival, the bathroom was steam filled due to the heat - Room had to be hotter than 100 deg. We asked for a screen so we could open the window, and they quickly responded by installing a screen that was a size too small. We were moved to more suitable room on the first floor only after asking for a refund. The CNPR should install new windows with window fans to alleviate excessively hot accomodations. The third story hallway smelled stale & mildewy.

Second time we have stayed at the Deer Lodge. Great location and dining facilities. Rooms are small but comfortable and well maintained. Try to get a third floor room as they tend to be less noisy. Whenever we are at Lake Louise this will be our hotel of choice.

Deer Lodge is very comfortable and has a wonderful hot tub on the roof overlooking the mountains. The lodge is a 5 minute walk to Lake Louise and all of the beauty and hiking that is has to offer. It is a great homebase for exploring Banff, Yoho and Kootenai National Parks.

Hotel was in excellent location - walking distance to Lake Louise. Room was in newer addition, which was modern and comfortable. No TV's in rooms; however, has a common room downstairs with TV, computer with free internet and pool table.

My husband and I stayed here in January for a week's skiing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a heritage king room - the bed was wonderful!. We knew there was not going to be any TV etc, and were very happy with the room. On our 4th night the heating developed quite an anoying noise, which they managed to sort out for the night, but it was back by the morning. We reported it again, and were offered another room (which we took) as they were not sure it could be easily fixed. Although a pain to move all our stuff, at least they did the right thing! The hotel is quite a way (4km) from Lake Louise village, and although they run shuttles to the ski resort (about 8km away) during the day, at night you are a bit stuck unless you have a car. You can get a taxi ($7 per person each way!) to the village so that you can have a bit more of a dining choice. You can walk easily to the Chateau, but that is quite pricey. However, this is part of the charm of this place being away from it all and is certainly very 'rustic' compared to some of the other hotels in lake Louise. The ski locker room is great - kept lovely and warm to dry out the boots! We would recommend this hotel, and would love to come back in the summer to see the lake that's underneat all the snow and ice!

The lodge rooms are extremely small and the plumbing was not acceptable. When we first used the sink and the toilet we found that they drained very slowly. When flushing the toilet I thought it was going to overflow. We did report the plumbing problem to the front desk and it was fixed.

The hotel was really lovely but the room we had was a bit small and the decor was dated.

Great historic hotel. Room generous in size, bathroom a bit small especially if you are sharing it with someone who needs to spread out. Restaurant at hotel a bit on the pricey side but the food is good. (Alternative restaurants are miles away in Lake Louise township.) The Trading Post was not open when we visited so I can't say if food is available there in the high season or not.) Overall a very pleasant stay.

I m not satisfied with the service. The room was not ready when I need it and I had to stay in another hotel in order to attend the wedding. They did not offer another solution or help.

Definately rustic - the atmosphere was good & the scenery awesome but the old part is badly in need of refurbishment & amenities are definitely lacking. The hot tub was fun, the food good but very expensive & the service in the restaurant very slow.

Imagine our surprise when the room we were given was the smallest we had seen in many years with not one chair in the room. After protesting we were given a larger room without paying an upgrade. This old hotel could be charming but at the present time it badly needs new investment to get rid of the seediness.

From the get-go,we have problems which were never properly resolved. Our room smelled bad - a bit like a room over a stable - and closed-up (worse than musty). At first, the 2 windows would not open. The room was extremely hot with no ventilation. When we finally got them to open, they wouldn't stay up. We asked that they be fixed; the hotel's solution was to take a block of wood and prop them open. We took photos because we couldn't believe, at this price, that they deal with maintenance issues in this manner. The external noise factor made it difficult to sleep. Our bed had torn sheets, the small floor carpet was worn and torn.

the beds were very confortable. Where do I get the three inch pad that was on top of the mattress?

Stilvolles Hotel mit interessanter Architektur. Gute Küche aber Technik in den Zimmern von vorgestern. Kein TV (braucht man im Urlaub nicht unbedingt) und kein Telefon. Heizungsfunktion ungenügend und Zimmer erdrückend klein.
