Outstanding hotel in the midst of Lincoln Park, Chicago, Ill. Very convenient to the zoo and other local attracions; easy to use Chicago mass transit, both bus lines and "El" lines. Easy walking distance to Wrigley Field and Lake Michigan. Worth the money in an excellent neighborhood!

I can't wait to stay at the Beldon Stratford again! We were stunned by the size of our suite and continued to be surprised as we discovered more and more incredible amenities, like our own personal laundry room and second bathroom! We went to Chicago for two Pearl Jam concerts and loved sinking into the incredible jacuzzi tub after each show. Even the soaps and shampoos were wonderful. Our suite was so comfortable and so beautiful, I enjoyed just relaxing in it and coming back for naps! We even brought dinner back to the suite to prepare in our kitchen and eat at our own dining room table. The views and surrounding neighborhood were great, as we were able to walk to amazing shops and cafes as well as the beach. I have no complaints and can't wait to return. What a wonderful place!

We stayed at the Belden Stratford Hotel for five wonderful days. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant and the accommodations were wonderful!

We, unfortunately, were only able to stay one night at the Belden Stratford. we were very pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room and discovered it was a suite! What a fabulous surprise! the hotel was great, the staff was great! we have no complaints. I look forward to going back soon.

Nice view of city, charming staff. Beautiful old building with a fabulous lobby.

This elegant historic hotel is right on the edge of Lincoln Park, overlooking the conservatory and zoo. The staff is extremely accommodating. We were upgraded to a large one-bedroom suite on the 15th floor with dramatic views of the park, Lake Michigan, and downtown skyscrapers. The suite had a full kitchen, half bathroom, dining room, large living room, bedroom with walk-in closet, and master bathroom. A continental breakfast is included in the price. Two additional restaurants, one with outdoor seating, are off the spectacular lobby. The hotel is within walking distance of many other restaurants and attractions.

Great location, and very roomy for the price. More closet space than we expected, as well. Would definitely stay there again.

My son and I just returned from staying at the Belden Stratford in Lincoln Park for a long weekend to watch the Cubs. The hotel far exceeded our expections so much that, after we checked in, I actually went back down to the front desk to make sure we were in the right room. We were!! The suite was gorgeous, with a dining room, kitchenette, living room, and a large master bedroom. The service was excellent each day, And the location was superb. Lincoln Park is a beautiful residential area. We were right across the street from the zoo and within walking distance to Wrigley Field.

Rooms were clean, spacious and well decorated. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful (they even knew my name when we drove up, as we were a late arrival). Great location.

Great hotel in neighborhood setting, yet not too far from activities, eateries and transportation. Taxis were easy to flag and train is within walking distance. Hotel room had small kitchenette, which was a welcome surprise. Great view of sunrise over lake from East-facing room. Staff was courteous. Will return for another stay.

Grand old building has been converted primarily to residences. Lake view room at the top was essentialy jr suite at double pricing. Previous nights at Hilton helped underscore that this is a great value. Walk across street for conservatory and zoo. Lincoln Park's still a lovely neighborhood.

This historic landmark is located in a great area on the north side. We loved its proximity to Lincoln Park and surrounding neighborhoods. The staff was friendly and helpful with advice. We were not impressed with the condition of the room. Specifically, we do not belive the linens were fully cleaned from the prior guests.

Upon arrival to Belden Stratford we were greeted by a fantastic front desk clerk. She was helpful with every question asked and more. Then, upon arrival to our room, we were taken by the view, size of the suite and what the room had to offer. We wish we could live in that room for the price and view of Lake Michigan. We were extremely satisfied:-) Hope to get that same room again in the future!

We enjoyed getting out in the Lincoln Park neighborhood as well as the beach & the Conservatory. Great restaurant attached for dinner. All within easy walking distance.

We were speechless when we opened the door to our "room". We had no idea that we were getting such a fabulous view and as much space as we did. The lake, Lincoln park and the sky line were right outside our window. The staff was fabulous and we are booking our next overnight trip at this hotel.

Area of improvement. Did not receive receipt for stay. Hotel policy is to send receipt to your email. Checked out of hotel on the 16th of July to date 20th of July do not have receipt and need for business reimbursement. Hotel associate that did my check out informed me I would have receipt the next business day. I now need to follow up to obtain receipt which is an inconvience and will impede my ability to obtain timely reimbursement for my business trip. I suggest you give guest the option of email or day of departure.

This was the best hotel deal I have ever had. Not only did we have a room we were given a suite of rooms overlooking the lake. I'll certianly use hotels.com again.

The room was a little in need of updating. Lobby is beautiful. Staff helpful. Parking expensive.

The staff are extremely courteous and friendly. The hotel was close (within 10 miles) of all the sites we were going to, but was far enough away from downtown that it was quiet. Across the street was Lincoln Park, which has an obervatory and a free zoo. The park itself is gorgeous and is well kept; including the walk/bike paths. The surrounding neighborhood is very nice. There are several great restaraunts within a half mile, so we walked to them most of the time. The room could have used some instructions for hotel procedures. For example, they have free wireless Internet that requires a username and password, but they don't provide that to you unless you call the Front Desk and ask for it.

We were lucky enough to get a 2-bedroom suite, which is sometimes rented out as an apartment. It was hands down the nicest, largest, and most comfortable room I have ever had. The view out our window of the Chicago skyline was only surpassed by the view in the adjacent window of the lake. We ordered all of our meals for takeout so that we could eat them in our room.

I lived in downtown Chicago for 6 years. I still have rental property up there so have to travel up there to check on it from time to time. I have always wanted to stay at the Belden Stratford and was disappointed with my stay. I had to rent a car to get back and forth to my property and used the Valet service. The service was HORRIBLE!!!! A van blocked the entrance and I kept asking the valet guys to move it so I could pull up and have them take my car. They kept dealing with the van and I sat out there for an hour waiting to park my car (needless to say getting honked at since there is not really a convenient area to pull over on Lincoln Park West where it is situated). I complained to the desk and all they said was that it was Chicago and they couldn't help it. That is no excuse as I have never had a problem with Valet in my 6 years living there. Then they charged my $38 for one night to park but advertised parking at $32. The hotel is nice and is in a great location. But the service is AWFUL and I highly recommend you don't try and take a car with you.

Our first visit to this hotel and it was incredible. The view of the lake from our room was beautiful. The receptionist, Crystal, was the most personable person we have ever come across. She had to work a 16 hour shift and we spoke to her every time we came and went and she always had the biggest smile on her face when she saw us coming and never once complained about working those kind of hours. She was great! Just like the hotel!

We were surprised to be upgraded to a suite, - elegant and spacious. Restaurant selection is limited in the walking neighborhood. Half mile at Clark and Belden are several popular pubs. Further north on Clark past Fullerton has many trendy restaurants. Lincoln Park Zoo is across the Lincoln Park West. Public transportation is limited. CTA Fullerton station is 15-20 minutes walk. We took a bus to downtown for a Broadway show and took the CTA train (Brown line) back. We also did the Food Planet Bucktown foodie walking tour. Very nice but a way from Lincoln Park to Bucktown.

Very nice hotel, with pleasant staff. Hotel is in the style of an old-school historic hotel maybe not quite as charming, but on the positive side you also don't have to put up with the quirks, worn-down amenities, and inconveniences that some historical hotels entail. When we checked in, we were "upgraded three times" to a business suite/corporate apartment style room. This provided us with somewhat dated but very functional appliances, downside was 2 double beds rather than queen, but was still nice of them to upgrade our room even if it was only for a 1-day stay. Hotel location is great, about a minute walk to the attractions in the park (zoo, etc). Valet parking is offered (price is about half to a third what you'd pay downtown on the Magnificent Mile), but free street parking is available near or even immediately next to the hotel if you're willing to be even moderately patient enough to wait for a spot. Hotel has extremely convenient access to downtown via Lakeshore Drive, literally a couple blocks away. Lots of good restaurants and such within short distance.

We loved our stay at the Belden Stratford. Crystal at the front desk was very friendly. I can only say nice things about this hotel. It is right across from the Lincoln Park Zoo which has free admission and is nice for a morning stroll before you start your day! Definitely would stay there again and recommend it highly to everyone! It isn't too far from Wrigley. We took a cab there & then made a leisurely stroll back stopping in bars & restaurants along the way. (It is a 2 mile walk, but we like the exercise.)

This hotel has a grand feel to it upon arrival, but you soon realize it is a bit run down (which actually adds to its charm). The rooms are nothing special, but are clean and comfortable and a good value for the price. We received a very nice upgrade and stayed in a very large suite which had a beautiful view of the park and the lake. The breakfast was nothing great - a typical "continental" breakfast, i.e. lots of sugary cereals and breads. It would be nice if they offered some eggs. My one real criticism is that they need some comfortable beddings. The mattress was fine but the blanket was like an old piece of foam and was covered with one of those old bedspreads that felt like cardboard. An investment in some feathery down quilts and pillows would elevate this hotel into something quite special.

This beautiful hotel is 80% apartments and 20% hotel rooms. We were given a suite which totally exceeded our expectations in every way. My mother in law also joined us but was given a much smaller room that had many problems. I think it really depends on the room you get at this hotel. The staff was very accommodating except for one of the desk clerks. The breakfast was lovely and the location was just perfect. Parking was separate but reasonable for the area. We had a wonderful stay but my mother in law did not because the quality of her room was less than desireable. The lobby is amazing and the attached restaurant was one of the best in the city. This is a beautiful old hotel and had a wonderful rooftop garden. Right on a lovely park with gardens everywhere. We would go back again for sure if we had a view of the park...

Their Valet Parking shut down at exactly 12.We got there 3 minutes late and I had to fine a parking space in a hard neighborhood to do that.

Much to our surprise, we were upgraded from a standard queen room to a king suite! We enjoyed our stay. The front desk staff person was friendly and helpful. The valet parking was expensive, and the continental breakfast was very basic (protein, like bacon/eggs would have been a welcome addition). Otherwise, I have absolutely no complaints. I will definitely go there again.

This hotel is situated in a beautiful location opposite Lincoln Park Zoo with a view over Michigan Lake. Very regular bus service to downtown (about 10 minutes). One of the receptionists recommended a 7 day bus pass ($23) which paid for itself about 20 times over! The hotel itself is a gorgeous landmark building. The room was of a very high standard and even included a little kitchen which saved on eating out all the time. Very handy! The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We happened to get a great rate but were surprised to find our room was actually an apartment, and all the rooms have a gallery kitchen which was wonderfully convenient. The neighborhood is lovely, full of elegant old buildings and Clark street only two short blocks away with all kinds of restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, etc. making our stay so easy. The beds were not the pillowtop kind but still very comfortable, and the furniture was in good condition, nice to look at and comfortable. Our friends had a smaller room, also with a kitchen, and lots of closet space. Hotel has private apartments so it doesn't have a business center (remember to bring your own laptop!) nor a bar-lounge but the bistro restaurant was excellent with great service.

This hotel was lovely. Big room, beautiful old building, convenient to near N Side. Price was certainly reasonable. View of the botanical gardens was a plus, and roof sundeck was spectacular.

This Hotel also sells apartments, so your hotel is set us as a average apartment for the price we paid I would have expected something nicer. Don't get suckered into the $39 parking either.
