Barceló Hotel Sants - Barcelona

Door de ligging boven het trein-, metro en busstation is het hotel en de hele stad makkelijk bereikbaar. Op de 5e verdieping (kamer 544) was niets te horen van het drukke verkeer en een prachtig uitzicht over de stad was ons deel. De uitrusting en verzorging is uitstekend! Een punt van kritiek is de luchtverversing. De airco werkte maar matig en instabiel (je kunt geen raam open zetten) en op de gangen ruikt het naar "volle stofzuigerzakken" (gebrek aan ventilatie).

I stayed at the hotel for a week. The decor was old fashioned but the rooms were clean and functional. Some of the staff were very helpful and others were pretty unfriendly. Also the noise levels inside the hotel were unacceptable. We could hear people moving around the hotel at all hours of the day and night, doors slamming and toilets being constantly flushed. The location of the hotel was fantastic for escaping the city on day trips to Sitges.

The Staff was very helpful and worked through the language differences with houmor and a smile. A pleasant surprise as to the size of the room and the bed. Not normal for Europe as a whole. Large and plenty of space to feel comfortable.

The lobby of Barcelo Hotel Sants is slick and modern, promising updated rooms and stylish interiors, but the actual experience was far less glamorous. The cheap, veneered furniture was nicked and old looking, the bed linens equally tired. The bathroom had loose tiles and mold. The location, directly above a major train station, is convenient for those making connections but there is little of interest in the immediate neighborhood. Unless you are looking for a big, corporate hotel that offers amenities like a fitness center and restaurant with room service, you would do far better in one of the smaller hotels in a more interesting district.

Wonderfully convinient for onward travel and overnight stays, and also within 5 mins train travel to the city centre. Staff very helpful, rooms very quiet, a fantastic Barcelona experience!

But Hotels.com or Barcelo Sants should make it a point to let people booking to stay there know of the train station right below the hotel, a 7 Euro ticket purchase gives a total of 10 rides on the subway, one ticket may be used for two persons. We learned of this on the last night of our stay there. We would have really maximized on our trip if we'd known of this sooner. The hotel is not that centrally located, about three miles from some key central areas. The hotel is great for it's price. The other Hotels.com hotels we stayed in on this trip were marginal in terms of room comfort. We even had a view in this hotel! But I think it would have been extremely valuable for us to know that the train station had such a bargain deal for travelers. In fact the ticket may even be used for the airport line. Between my wife and I we used a 7 Euro ticket to take 10 rides and also to get us to the airport the next morning. I am not complaining, just saying that something that's such an obvious benefit to hotel guests should be touted by hotel staff, by hotels.com, etc.. We would have been a lot more educated if we'd known that up front.

Hotel was very nice and large by European standards (medium by American). Full bathtub (also unusual for Europe). Hotel was right above the metro stop where most of the lines cross. This was very convenient for getting all over the city. It was a far walk to many of the tourist spots, but doable. Overall, great deal for the price.

Hotel has perfect location to travel around the city and also easy to find. We drove up from Benidorm and had to give the car back to Europcar. We had a little problem trying to find it. It was on the roof! Also had trouble trying to find petrol in the city using sat nav due to various streets being one way. Although the hotel is in a quieter part of the city (which was probably a good choice) there is a metro, trains, taxis and the tour bus directly outside the hotel. Would definitely stay there again if visiting again. . .

Room had a great view towards La Sagrada Familia and Montjuic. Room complete with safe, tv with various channels, bathroom was great! water pressure in bath was so relaxing. Hotel is located on top of Sants station which was easy to locate when coming into the city and great access to move around in Barcelona. Close to cafeterias and souvenir shops within the station. Breakfast was extra but was worth it because it is buffet style (eggs, bacon, fruit, cheese, etc.) I will definitely stay here again if Im lucky to go to Barcelona again.

Hotel is very shabby. The lobby is the nicest thing. The beds are very low and hard. Would not recommend.

Central location but far from beach and Gothic area (about 20-30 min) by metro. Good access to airport and to sarria neighborhood.

Decor was dated with green tinted wood, but it was clean and comfy. Location was good if you're coming into Sants Estacio. But they charge to use the gym!

The location of the hotel is great. The Barcelona metro runs below the hotel. We were able to save money by taking the metro to all the main attractions of Barcelona. The hotel was friendly and helpful. The room look was outdated. If they were to remodel the rooms this hotel would be a five star hotel at a three start price.

Great Location for Metro/Train connections, but for pure location, I would prefer somewhere nearer Barro Gotic or La Ribera.

A little dated and needs better sound proofing.

After working in Barca for 3 years I returned with some friends from uk and met up with some friends from my time in Gaudi's wonderful playground. Hotel has friendly staff, good public areas, comfy rooms (matresses a bit hard) and is really well located for the airport -direct train - and the rest of the city - metro, train & bus. Nice bar and great breakfasts (better price at weekends). Sants itself is nothing special but a great spring board for a great weekend.

If you're travel savy enough to use Barcelona's amazing metro system then this hotel is for you as it's right on top of one of the intersections of two major lines. It's CHEAP and the best part is that it's CLEAN...the service is GREAT...and the rooms are more than adequate. The view from the room was amazing. My only complaint is that the mattress was a bit hard for my taste. There was a problem with one of the elevators and we arrived to find chocolate covered strawberries and an apology note from the staff in our room.

The Hotel is a great value, the location is great the train from the Airport stops at the Train Station under the Hotel(3 Stops,25 Min.)the Metro Station is there too.It is quiet no noise from the trains.Having the Train Station gives you a choice for quick and inexpensive meals. The Metro is great and inexpensive buy a T-10 Ticket ten trips for Euro 7.70 it takes one Ticket to go to the Airport. King size bed seams bigger then ours but it is very firm.

Situated above the main Barcelona rail station, 'Sants', made this a very convenient jumping off point for touring the city. The Barcelona Tour buses start from here and there is an extensive network Metro system with multi-language ticket machines offering multi-use/journey tickets. The hotel room was very quiet however we found the 'king-sized' bed quite hard and as the window did not open, the air-conditioning had to be left on at night. Breakfast was a rather expensive optional extra so we ate out at one of a multitude of cafes. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and we would definately use this hotel again.

This hotel is right above the Barcelona Sants railway station, offering 2 Metro lines as well as long range train service. Tour buses stop right outside. The front desk staff is not very helpful; there is no conciege service. In our three day stay, we returned to the hotel two evenings to find we hadn't received housekeeping services; had to call them to correct.

I was very pleased with the my overall stay but the only thing I was not total happy was the food at the hotel restaurant(excep for the breakfast that was great) It wasn't much to pick from the evening menu and having into consideration that there was not place to eat in the neighborhood it was kind of disappointment to had to go downtown for dinner.

We stayed here our first night in Barcelona. You can take the metro right to the hotel, it is above a major station (although surprisingly not noisy.) Convenient to get our feet wet in the city. Another plus was the king bed, not many in Barcelona. It was a hard bed but at least good size. Great stop!

Somewhat impersonal hotel, due to it's size. Good quality restaurant for reasonable prices. Location on top of Sants Estació ensures excellent communications via Metro and Train. Hotel entrance poorly indicated when arriving inside station.

hotel is well run staff cant do enough for you great links to go any were in the city or country,its a good base as train metro and bus stations are on your doorstep plus there always plenty of taxis as well

A short shuttle train ride from airport puts you in the middle of everything. The hotel sits above central train station with all taxi availability. Rooms are small and beds are hard (typical European). Taxi to the seaport is 15 Euro's. Desk staff is english fluent and ready to help.

With a location above a major train station, we were a little unsure what to expect. However, the hotel is fantastic. Clean, good breakfast, great front dest staff and being a few minutes away to boarding a train or the Metro is a huge plus. We would definitely stay there again.

I loved the location of this hotel, just above the Sants train station and the metro, as my train from Madrid arrived at 11:30 p.m. A quick train to the airport also leaves from this station every half hour, it is 2-3 stops away. This makes both arrival and departure easy. The front desk was very helpful upon arrival, pointing out all important sights to see on a map. The tourist bus is located just across the street, but will start you out on the blue route - all of the Gaudi sights are on the red route. Keep that in mind. The food was great - room service was very good, restaurants were satisfactory. A reasonably priced breakfast buffet was available on floor E. Rooms were a little dated, but the lobby was modern, all decorated for Christmas. Views from the window were decent. Three English speaking channels were available on TV: CNN, FOX News, and the BBC. An internet cafe is available in the lobby, paid for in 30 and 60 minute increments. An ATM is on floor E. The one thing I didn't like was the poor climate control. I did not see any AC and the heat could never be completely turned off. The windows didn't open either, which meant that even in late Nov/early Dec the room was uncomfortably warm. And yes, mattresses were unusually hard.

The staff spoke good English and was very friendly and helpful. The location was great because you went down stairs below the hotel to reach the subway system. We received great and patient assistance from the desk staff, and managed to get where we were going with no trouble. The train station, with easy access to the airport was also below, but we chose to take a taxi because we had so much cruise baggage. The view was impressive from our room, and the room was top notch. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience in every way.

the hotel is spot on. well placed friendly staff its located on top of train station . so getting about no probs theres no noise what so ever the food is also spot on.breakfast was really nice. the gym is a good size so you can have a good workout . theres plenty of of places to eat and lots of shops with in walking distance

The hotel itself was fine, but because the weather was between summer and fall, the hotel automatically shut the AC off to all the rooms and switched to heat, although it was still warm enough outside for the AC. Unfortunately, the rooms have large pane windows which don't open, so it was very stuffy and uncomfortable. After complaining to the hotel staff, they suggested just turning the air system in the room off (although they said they switched to heat, it felt like ambient air when the AC unit was turned on) and it would cool off. It never got below 79 degrees in the room.

Great location with convenient access to Trains.

I've been staying in Barcelona on and off for around ten years and I always book the Sants. Ease of access to and from the airport can't be beaten (it's situated above a station with a direct link to the airport-despite this I've never experienced any problems with noise) and it's on the Barcelona Metro for easy access to any part of the city, Sagrada Familia, Ramblas, Barceloneta, Catalunya etc. It's a two minute walk from La Paradeta, one of Barcelona's finest (and cheapest) sea food bars, and five minutes from my favourite tapas bar, Sants Bier (excellent Pulpo Gallega and Pebrots de Padron).

the hotel is situated in the perfect position for everything you need, the staff were excellent and couldnt have been more helpfull. my only gripe is that the beds are too firm to be comfortable. i would not hesitate to go back there.

This is a clean and comfortable business class hotel. The location is extremely convenient if you are arriving/leaving on a Renfre train, or going/coming from the airport via the shuttle train, as the hotel is located directly above the station. It was raining when I arrived, didn't have to get wet - just checked in, dropped off my luggage, and went out to explore. Also, free wifi available to customers with decent connection speed.

This hotel is literally above the main train terminal. So there were always taxi's lined up, the airport shuttle stops in front of it and the double decker tourist bus stops in front of it. And since we could not speak a word of Spanish, it was a great land mark to tell the taxi driver where to take us to. Also, the hotel staff spoke perfect English which helped a lot. The only down fall was that it was not with in walking distance of main touristy area but that was ok. I would stay here again.

Great hotel for the price. Very convenient to get around the city with the metro from this place. The staff was super helpful, and very friendly. I'd stay here again, definitely.

It was in a good location, above the train station. We could access the Metro and the trains very easily. The front desk was always nice. The beds were hard. The room was clean, but it seemed like it hadn't been remodeled in at least 15 years. Besides being above the train station, it was in a quiet neighborhood, away from all the tourist sights, which was nice. There were enough restaurants within walking distance to still make it nice. It was a good hotel for the money. As long as you don't mind an outdated room, it was good.

The hotel is ideally placed, right above Barcelona Sants station and next to the metro stop. The facilities all seemed very good, although the room seemed slightly in need of a makeover. The shower and water temperature were awful (boiling hot, or tepid with no power). Service was good apart from room service: on our last day we ordered an early breakfast which never arrived. The staff were all helpful and spoke good English.

We had booked a cruise with NCL on the Norwegian Gem based at the Moll(moy) Adossat harbour terminal in Barcelona. For reasonably fit passengers arranging their own travel arrangements to/from the ship with a day to spare after the cruise try this and save a fortune on bus excursion/airport transfers:- Going out - take the T10 train from airport to Barcelona Sants station (multi-ticket for 4 only 7.20 Euro) For overnight stay, book into Barcelo Sants hotel built literally above the train station. A taxi to the nearby cruise terminal costs 15 to 18 Euro. (max 4 passengers) After your cruise, return again to the 'Estacio Sants'. There is a left luggage facility (4.50 euros - 2 cases) near MacDonalds cafe allowing you the freedom to take an unmissable Bus Turistic city tour (20 Euros - book in the station at info office beside toilets). Tour bus stop is just across from station so it is easy to return again for luggage and return train to airport which travels every half hour. As always, please watch out for pick-pockets, unfortunately plentiful in Barcelona.

Hotel is convenient for all transport links. Hotel comfortable and does what it says on the packet. However, quite impersonal but pleasant enough. Don't expect outstanding customer service but functional.
