The Square - Kopenhagen

De ligging van het hotel vlakbij het centraal station, Tivoli en het centrum is de grootste plus. Hotel heeft kleine, warme kamers met beroerd uitzicht aan achterkant of uitzicht op Raadhuisplein aan voorkant. Ramen kunnen open als je je niet stoort aan ventilatoren die de hele dag de lucht van hamburgers naar binnen waaien (achterzijde) of aan drukke autoweg (voorzijde). Wel goede fietsen te huur, Kopenhagen is de ideale fietsstad. Hou er rekening mee dat de eenpersoonsbedden smalle divanbedden zijn.

Kamer is erg klein, King Size bed is een koppeling van twee single bedden en raam kan niet open vanwege geluidsoverlast van ventilatoren.

Prima Hotel, centraal, netjes, modern. Niet in de leukste wijk van Kopenhagen, maar met de fiets ben je zo over al. We hebben we niet ontbeten dus hier geen mening over, maar naast het hotel zit een prima koffiebar.

Net hotel, goede ligging. Uitzicht is perfect, maar wel lawaaierig aan de straat. Je betaalt wel veel voor de ligging daar de keten 500 meter verderop een hotel heeft met grotere kamers en 40% voordeliger. Schoonmaak was matig. Ondanks "Executive Kamer" toch erg klein. Gratis internet.

Location is prime, opposite the Radhuspladsen (Town Hall Square), and within walking distance of all major and many not-so-major sites (except those without tolerance for walking may want to bicycle or take public transit to see the little mermaid). However, there were flaws with The Square that rightly earn it 3 stars. The design aesthetic is beautiful, as it is across the city, but the attention to detail doesn't reach the areas where staff come into contact with guests. The front desk was attentive to my complaint of my first room reeking of years' worth of smoking patrons, but nonetheless guilted me in some ways for daring to make a complaint. I got a new room and an upgrade at that, but the service was questionably delivered. (Checkout was unfailingly pleasant but the damage to impressions had already been done.) Regarding another matter, housekeeping decided to leave early one day. I had kept the Do Not Disturb sign up for the morning, but then left by noon to go out for the day. I returned to the room around 2:30 and lo and behold, my room was not made up, but they had left a bag of towels and toiletry bottles outside the door. Maybe they work earlier hours than most housecleaning crews, but once again I was far from impressed with the service ethic. There was also some tiling in the shower in serious need of regrouting because it was black with discoloration. Unappetizing, to say the least. (Finally, skip the breakfast buffet. It's chaotic, even in the hours during which they advise you to go when it's quiet and less busy, and the spread is hardly worth the money charged. There are little cafes nearby that serve far better breakfast or brunch meals for a far more reasonable price.)

Service was outstanding. The concierge took a luggage cart across the street to get our luggage out of the rental car and took it to our room. The room was very small. The sink was plugged and the shower head was physically broken in half - both of these problems should have been noticed by the maid. When the problems were reported to the front desk the same concierge corrected the problem within 10 minutes.

The location of the hotel is super and the design is quite cool, however we were not impressed. The showers have a serious problem with mould (in multiple rooms) and also the service is not very good. The reception is staffed by young, inexperienced people who are either unable or unwilling to help you with simple requests.

a bit of a noisy location on a busy street. noise depends on the room. close to everything. modern (and large) room (superior class). i've stayed everywhere in Copenhagen, this is good and reasonable value.

Clean, small, probably not bad value for Copenhagen. Best selling point: on the main square and very close to train station(about couple blocks). Very easy access from the airport via train to central station. Walked to hotel because- this is the first time this ever happened!- the cabbie from the train station told me it was only 500m away, and by gesture, was telling me I should walk! Don't know if he just didn't want to lose his place in line and hopes of better fare or he was the first honest cabbie in the world who didn't want to take me on a grand tour of Copenhagen on the way to the hotel. Stayed one night and skipped the hotel breakfast- extra.

My husband and I stayed at The Square the night before a cruise. The room was small, but stylish, clean, and comfortable. The room was also very quiet (we were on the back of the building), despite the hotel's location on a busy street. Location is great: we took a train from the airport and walked to the hotel from the train station. The room was ready, as promised--at 2pm. Staff was helpful. Very convenient (a block from Tivoli)--plenty of restaurants, bars, and shopping within easy walking distance.

The room was small but comfortable. Would recommend for the location and price. However, breakfast rate is way overpriced.

Great location, but understand: you're on the Copenhagen Town Square! That means some activity, but you're in the heart of the action. Best thing is access to transporttion. The hotel is great. Clean, updated, nice. It does tend to be quite busy with cruise ship people coming and going - and that can mean a crowded lobby and long waits to talk to the desk personnel. But everybody is nice. You're a block from Tivoli (big deal!) and at the beginning of the pedistrean street. Food here can be expensive, so go further away from the square to eat. One quirky thing about the hotes is he elevator doors: they're double and you have to pull open the outer door to get to the elevator. But once you get the hang of it, it's fine. The breakfast room is cool - on the top floor, but can be very crowded. Food OK - better than the usual continental breakfast.

The room is small but adequate for short stays. Well maintained and very clean. The staff was very helpful and accommadating.

Like most rooms in Denmark they are small but the location of this hotel helps make up for that. It is a good value but not a great hotel just an average by US standards.

The location of this hotel is great! The staff is helpful and the rooms are clean. However, if you are used to sleeping in a queen or king bed or even in normal sized twins, be ready for a shock! The two "twin" beds were put together but they seemed more like youth size beds and I truly do not believe that they even make a double size when put together. Things are very expensive in Denmark and it costs me the equivalent of about $5.00 to have a bottle of coke zero.

The Square is located on the Radplas - City Hall Square - walking distance from Tivoli Gardens, main train station, and the Stogard shopping district, and many tourist destinations. The decor is Danish Modern and looks recently re-done. Our room was good sized (by Eurpoean standards) and was very clean and comfortable. The Radplas can be a little nosiy so we asked for a quiet room and were not even bothered by the Saturday night rock concert on the Radplas. The staff was efficient and helpful. The cold bufet breakfast is a good value and is high quality and plentiful.

The Square is right near the center of town with an quick walk to the Stroget or the train station...multiple bus routes go past the hotel as well. The only negative for me was the wi-fi was only available in the lobby and not in the hotel rooms.

I booked a supreme single which included a double bed. I checked in and was given a room on the 6th floor. While it had a double bed, the room was so small I had to walk over the corner of the bed to get to the far side of the room. One day later, a friend who had made the same type of booking (supreme single) got a room on the 2nd floor that was significantly larger, so much so that he could walk from one end of the room to the other without having to go over the bed. I then went to the front desk and requested to be moved to a different room that was larger. While the hotel representative insisted that my friend's room was not larger than my current room on the 6th floor, I still requested a change. After a short discussion, I was given a key to a room on the 1st floor to look at. The room was significantly larger than my current room, and similar to that of my friend's on the second floor. I was glad that I persisted on getting my room changed. I would recommend seeing the room first before you move your luggage to the room. While bookings may be similar, room size varies significantly.

Booked the room because it had air conditioning and location. We like to be where all the sites are and saved us travel time to get to the city center. Air conditioning allows you to have the windows closed at night because the Danes are night owls. The breakfast buffett looked like a good deal. Didn't actually eat up there; but it looked good. Staff was very friendly; but, they were really busy too. Really easy to get around the city via bikes, train, metro, and foot. We LOVE Copenhagen!!!

good hotel. clean rooms. some things do need brush-up. hope they will do it. location - excellent. recomend to stay while in cope.

Only stayed one evening, but the hotel was ideally situated to enjoy the city--right near Tivoli and many museums. The bed was also VERY comfortable.

Hip hotel with an unbeatable location, but room was uncomfortably small. Absolutely, European hotel rooms are always on the small side, but this one was exceptionally tight. No place to even sit down without touching the bed. Views from room overlooking The City Square are amazing and great to walk everywhere, just a little more info about the limited space issue before booking would have helped.

Great location just around the corner from Tivoli Gardens and within walking distance of many sights. For the single traveler, the rooms are EXTREMELY small, but well maintained and perfectly alright for a very short stay.

we really enjoyed our stay here. it is right in front of Dam Square so there is so much to do, everywhere to eat, pubs, Tivoli Gardens, all right there. very clean and modern. very close to the train station as well. staff was very pleasant, rooms were extremely clean and rather spacious. FREE INTERNET in the room, very very hard to come by! i would stay here again and is great if you are in town for a few days and want to be close to everything. if you are looking for quiet area to stay, this is not the area to stay in. we enjoyed how close it was to everything. after 21 days traveling, me and my travel companion felt this was the best hotel we stayed in for the reasons mentioned. go eat a restaurant right up the street called PUKS, it is just great and we thought about our meal there for the rest of our trip!

if you want convenience, this is the hotel to stay while in Copenhagen. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel but was disappointed to find that they did not vacuum the floor on Sundays!.

Walking distance from train station and around the corner from Tivoli gardens. Free lobby internet access. Reception desk extremely helpful. A bit confusing with the elevator. Other than that, great rate for room.

Convenient location, friendly staff, reasonable rate, comfortable accommodation; only complaint, and a mild one at that, is the air conditioner barely cooled down the room.

Room was modern and comfortable but the bathroom had mold on the calking. Thought breakfast was included in price but hotel said it wasn't. They ran out of coffee at 7 a.m. Aside from that it was a good value given Copenhagen is very expensive.

Excellent location, good value, comfortable rooms. What more could you want?

Great hotel, clean and modern and the best of all is the location. It is a few feet from city hall, tivoli and all the major attractions. Highly recommend. they also ahve a computer in the lobby that you can use any time for no cost.

We found ourselves in the perfect location to explore Copenhagen -- across the square from the Stroget pedestrian zone, walking distance to the canal boat rides and the hip restaurant area of Nyhavn and across the square from the hop-on, hop-off bus terminal. It was great.

The Square Hotel is wonderfully located near Tivoli and the Hans Christian Anderson statue. Getting there is a snap from either the airport or the cruise ship docks using the trains and subway to the Vesterport station. Then two short blocks. Across from the train station is a small grocery which was a huge cost savings over resturants. The room was clean and the staff courteous. We had arrived early and they graceously locked up our bags so we could tour that day. One free internet terminal in the lobby allowed us to do on-line airline checkin so all went well.

This hotel is located right in city hall plaza - it couldn't have a better location -very close to the Central train station, Tivoli, multiple bus routes, and the main shopping street. A great place also to pick up tours, etc. The hotel is modern, convenient, comfortable, and the staff are helpful.

Located on the main square in Copenhagen and the Stoget, 1 block from Tivoli, 2-3 blocks from the train station. We got a room in the back, and it was very quiet. The room was a bit small but perfectly adequate for 2 people. Nice bathroom with deep tub. Great desk staff - knowledgeable and accommodating.
