WooGo Central Park - Tempo Apartments - New York

We chose this apart/hotel for the price and location. The neighbourhood is nice and not as hectic as midtown. The frontdesk is too small and don't expect much service but we loved fact that you have a small kitchen and a great supermarket around the corner so at least you can have something to eat in your room (good for those who suffer a jetlag!) They don't clean your room if not asked and don't change your towels either but we got clean ones when we phoned the 'front desk' We would recommend this apart/hotel if you don't expect lots of service.

Yes, the windows only have blinds, not curtain. Yes, the walls are thin, so you sometimes hear noises from the other rooms and yes, the rooms can get a little warm (70+ degrees). But the hotel looks very nice, staff is not overly friendly but nice enough to cater to your wishes, the rooms are very spacious and clean, the studio kitchens have everything (oven, microwave, toaster, stove, fridge, freezer, pots, pans, cutlery, plates, cups, even wine glasses), and the room has a TV, DVD player and small stereo set. Also, the hotel's location is perfect. The Upper West Side is beautiful, Central Park is 3 blocks away and MTA lines 1, 2 and 3 are literally around the corner. Stayed at Woogo for a week, really enjoyed our time there.

Het hotel is zelf ok. Het was alleen niet uit te houden van de hitte. Telkens werd na 2 uur de verwarming boven de 30 graden gezet om hem daarna (in ong 2 uur) weer af te laten koelen tot 15 graden. OOK 'SNACHTS.Echt vreselijk!Probeer daar maar eens mee te slapen!Daar bij word er maar 1 x per 5 dagen schoongemaakt(ook de wc)en wil je eerder dan die 5 dagen schone badhandoeken dan word de schoonmaak opgeschort naar 10 dagen.Wij zijn er 5 dagen geweest maar waren heeeeel blij dat we er weer weg konden!Oja, en service, als je om iets vraagt dan komen ze niet of heel erg laat om je het gevraagde te leveren. Waardeloos! Het hotel ziet er zelf wel mooi uit en het ligt redelijk centraal, metro en starbucks vlakbij.Oja en personeel is groten deels spaanstalig en sommigen verstaan geen engels!

lekker relaxte sfeer, privacy, een eigen studiootje in de chaos van de stad. alles was schoon en opgeruimd. koelkastje, magnetron, wat borden en bestek. lekker bed. verder geen hotelfaciliteiten.

Woogo Central Park made for a clean and comfortable stay in New York. The location is absolutely fantastic, it's about 1 minute from the nearest subway station, and with trains leaving for Times Square every few minutes, you can be in the heart of town in no time at all! Plus, the Upper West Side of New York is a very nice area to be staying in. The room itself was smaller than the picture (not too shocking!) but it was clean and comfortable, and had a decent view of the Hudson River. The bathroom too was very clean, and overall we were pretty happy with our choice of hotel. One tip, if you're looking for a good, cheap breakfast, opposite the subway station there is a diner called Utopia. Modest name but very nice food and friendly staff. Check it out!

Comfortable accommodation in a good location not far from Central Park. Fairly expensive, but that was partly due to the size (we had two bedrooms). Kitchen facilities could have been good but no grill pan & only two very small saucepans let it down. No bath but a good shower. Sofa bed very uncomfortable, better to sleep on it as a sofa as the springs dig in if you convert it into a bed. Air conditioning noisy and not very efficient. Easy to get taxis or subway to lower Manhattan & there's an excellent food shop one block north plus restaurants & autobank facilities all close.

The Location is great!!! I was pleasantly surprised how organized and quick the check-in check-out process was. The staff was friendly and very helpful. the only concern I had during my stay was maintenance work being done next door to my room. It was loud and annoying, made it hard for me to sleep late. Later the next day they apologized for the mistake, saying they thought I had checked out. Other than that incident my stay was good.

Strictly for the budget conscious or for those who don't care about normal hotel "services". Desk Agent (the sole hotel employee on site, it seems) was VERY accommodating and friendly, but desk hours are only from 9am to 10pm - beyond that, you're on your own. Temp. apartments share the building with FT residents as well as business offices and a Gymboree downstairs, so there's usually tots in the lobby. Studio apt. had a double bed (which was only okay), but there was Housekeeper Hair (I assume) on the sheets and pillows. Shower curtain was missing and had to be replaced. Was NOT a flat screen TV with DVD player as advertised. Also no alarm clock in the room, so I had to go buy my own, as there was also no staff available for an early am wake up call. On the plus side, it's pretty much come and go as you please. Microwave and small fridge make it easy to store/cook food on site. And, again, the cost really couldn't be beat.

They kept waking me up 7 times and fire alarm kept going on and on..... Don't want to go back there again.

What a difference staying at this hotel as opposed to one right off of Times Square. We were on the 17th floor with a 'furnished balcony' -- it was 1/2 the penthouse, and wonderful. Great view from a very large balcony, hard wood floors. It's ideal for 2 people, but we had 3 and it was still comfortable. The sofa bed in the living room was not very comfortable, but it is a sofa bed. The location is wonderful. Convenient to the Subway station, great restaurants, coffee shops, etc. It was an extrememly well priced property. The only thing that you need to be aware of is that it is an apartment, not a hotel room, so you don't get daily bed service, towel changes, etc. You will only receive one key to the apartment, but there is a key box at the front desk where you can put leave the key in case all of the guests aren't traveling together fot the day. All in all a wonderful experience.

This was a great deal overall. We had a very comfortable, clean room with wood floors. We were only one block from a good subway station and only three blocks from Central Park. Our only complaint was that the air conditioner was very loud, but we adjusted by turning it off for a while if we wanted to watch TV. I would stay here again. Thank you!

Keeping in mind that this is not a traditional hotel, this property worked just fine for me. This was a small NYC studio apartment(sparsely furnished and no bad hotel wall art). This setup served my purposes just fine. It even had a small kitchen, which I did not use but good to know about. There is no maid service for a short stay. I think they go in after three or five days and you just have to re-use your towels for a few days -- which was fine with me. The bathroom/shower was just fine with good water pressure. The bed was slightly underpowered in the comfort department, but I've slept on much worse. A pillow upgrade might help too. Overall this is fine place to sleep for a short stay if you are not attached to hotel style amenities, room service, etc. This property works.

We only stayed here 2 nights, but the place was good enough. Great location, nice staff. Our only complaint was that the rooms could REALLY stand to be updated/renovated. Not bad if you're just looking for a place to sleep.

The queen hideabed in the livingroom would have been unusable opened out because of springs not adequately cushioned--it had to be slept in as a sofa. The staff gave out the wrong phone number of the hotel. The $100 deposit has still not been refunded to me 9 days after checking out.

I enjoyed the WooGo. The staff is not particularly accommodating or friendly by any stretch of the imagination and they did make us feel like criminals a bit. However, the room was clean and very quiet and the neighborhood was close to everything we were interested in (Central Park, museums, good restaurants, subway station, etc.) so it was very easy to get around. We LOVE NY -- the city, the people, the food, and the atmosphere. WooGo is good for people who like peace and quiet.

At this price who can complain? Only thing was the prison bed-- why can't they invest in real beds instead of mattresses atop steel bars? Otherwise, really cool place.

We booked 2 bunk bad rooms. The room is OK for one person but very, very small for 2. There was no place to put our lugage. Pros: convenient location, just right to metro station, nice neighbourhood, clean rooms Cons: really small rooms, the staff will not clean until day 5 (!!!). Please note this, you have to trow you garbage and no new towels for five (yes, 5) days. Really amazing!

Great location. The 1 bedroom was an adequate size but was not well appointed. Full length mirror was on a door to the closet that precluded entrance to the living roomwhen in use. Stupid, really, and easy to fix - just put it on another door. They need to make sure that everything included is available, i.e. a tv but no remote, a freezer but no ice cube trays. However, the staff was anxious to accomodate and fix all they could.

This was a great find, just blocks from Central park. It was great to prepare your own breakfast and have so much more space than most of the NYC hotels I've stayed in. The sofa-bed was a bit lumpy, but otherwise the place was great, clean and great location on the upper West side. I highly receommend it for the budget traveler.

Two minutes from subway station, very convenient for shops and restaurants. Room very clean and spacious for couple, ie did not need sofa bed. Bathroom 'cosy' so not suitable for large people.

My wife and I stayed 6 nights. The lobby had dirty furniture. Our door didn't close properly - couldn't close it without the key and the help said we could. Workers were working on the fire alarm system although they work only in the daytime. But the alarm went off without warning and they said they were testing the system.

The Hotel had difficulty finding the reservation as they did with every person we saw in the lobby each time we were in the lobby. Evidently, the system between the internet bookings thru third party providers and WooGo is ineffective.

If you're thinking of staying here, please understand that this is not a true hotel. It is an apartment building on the Upper West Side that seems to rent out rooms that are not occupied. My room was a studio, very small, with a decent bed, bathroom, kitchenette, but a horrible TV. It had very few stations available and the quality of the picture was poor. While I was there, there were workmen down the hall doing some sort of renovation. That meant lots of noise during working hours. The building also has a Gymboree kids' activity center off the lobby, making for plenty of traffic of moms with their kids. The plus to this place is its location, just half a block off Broadway in the mid-70s.

Needs improvement. Location is great!

I had never been to this hotel...or even heard of such a place......It was fantastic.....So cool to have your own little kitchen.....We stored some food i had with me from previous travels and made myself tea in the morning......Small room but large enough....Staff was very nice and super friendly......Great area of the city.....you get to feel like a NewYorker for a few days !!!!!

Wonderful space. It's an apartment building, not a hotel, and is more spacious than most hotel rooms. They didn't have my reservation (booked on hotels.com, but never received by the hotel!) but upgraded us to a 3-bedroom at no fee. The building is old but sturdy, the rooms very quiet. Not much on amenities; if you like room service and depend on the concierge, this is not for you.

I knew that I had to pay a $100 deposit (from reading other's reviews) even called before hand to ask if they would accept cash (which I was told that they would) for the deposit. When I arrived, the front desk clerk refused to take cash even though I told him that I had already cleared it through the main office. After calling the main reservation number, they called the fron desk clerk telling him to accept cash. The next morning at 9:00 am, we were awakened by a hammer drill and workers outside our room. So much for a quiet nights sleep

This hotel located on the upper west side of NYC and is in a cute neighbor very close to central park. Convenient to the Subway. Cute building both inside and out. The staff was very friendly-greeted us by name! The room was very clean and comfortable just right for me and my girl friend for a weekend. only, think I didn't like was the $100 desposit they said they needed when the room was already paid for.

The room looked clean at first, but we'd come back at night and switch on the lights and there were small bugs all over the counter. We requested a rollaway bed and after an initial knee-jerk "Sorry, we just gave out our last one" by the appearingly inexperienced front desk clerk, another employee said that they did have a rollaway and went to get it. She came out with a rickety little excuse for a bed and had me take it up to the room myself. Later they brought up sheets with no blanket and I had to borrow a pillow from the other bed. The bathroom had like 4 bars of soap and no shampoo. The shower was either super hot or really cold. There was only one key to our room, and they said that we can hold the key at the "front desk" and they would just give it to the other person when they came. Not exactly very secure. Overall, not worth the money.

WooGo is in a great location at a very reasonable price. What was problematic was the accomodations for our 3rd person. The sofa couch was worse than out of the Seinfeld episode with a paperthin mattress with multiple holes. When we tried to remove the mattress from the couch to place it on the floor in order not to feel the springs and bar - some of the springs were imbedded into the mattress through the holes so could not be moved. The staff were extremely kind and very professional. So great location, excellent staff, primary bed was fine but secondary bed was terrible.

Good value

The hotel charged us $100 deposit per room without letting us know beforehand. We only found out because we read reviews from past guests. My suggestion is to pay that amount is cash so you are guaranteed to get it back at check-out. I wouldn't trust leaving my credit card with them. The customer service was terrible. The front desk workers had us wait for about 2 hours because our rooms weren't ready when we got there for check-in. At check-out time, they told us the wrong time and we had to wait for an hour and half before we could return our keys and get our deposit back. Also, don't be fooled by what the rooms look like in the pictures, they vary. We ended up getting a tiny room where the couch didn't even have enough room to pull out from, but some people in our group got a big room. Just make sure you check on that before you get there. Despite the negatives, if you are looking for a decent place to stay (the rooms were not bad) in a great location (minutes in walking to the subway) you should stay here. We didn't spend much time in our rooms, so it wasn't a big deal. Also, you can't beat the price for where it is!

Wow! For the Money you cannot beat this place! An Excellent Neighborhood-1 Min walk to Subway and the best market on the Westside. Our room was a corner with 2 windows and a look to Central Park. It was newly remodeled. The room we had was small but very clean and came with a fridge Microwave, and cooktop for "staying in". The staff was courteous, friendly and helpful at all times. Of course the food in Manhattan is incomparable and there were several excellent places in walking distance. We will be back-we were both happy and impressed with this place! I really very highly recommend WooGo!

On my way to the hotel, I picked up some groceries to make dinner for myself and a friend. I love staying at woogo because of the set up with the kitchen facilities in the rooms. Upon arrival, however, I was told that I had been downgraded from the room that I paid for through Hotels.com to a bunk bed room. This bunk bed room had no kitchen. So, not only did I pay more for a room, and not get what I paid for, I also wasted all of the money on groceries because I had no way of cooking. Then, I even had to pay more to go out to dinner. I was told to e-mail or call woogo...I have not received any response. Very frustrating...I will never stay here again.

Our room was very clean, quiet and comfortable but not spacious. It was close to our concert venue. Probably can't be beat for the money.

Wonderful location.. Like having your own studio apt. on the upper West Side. Very comfortable room, kitchen with stove, fridge, convenient. Loved the Fairway Market and subway one block away. Nice marble bathroom with great shower. Could upgrade the towels. Bed linens were nice. Will definitely stay again

Not bad for the price, relatively convenient location and nice staff, but overall cleanliness needs improvement and bathroom and kitchen are in need of an update.

It's important to ask the Hotels.com staff operator, to try to find a room on the higher floors. The first time I used the hotel, they gave me an exceptional room on the 10th floor. This time, it was the 4th floor, and although it was nice enough, it didn't have the value and variety of the 10th floor rooms. There's no one, absolutely no one to help one with one's luggage there. And it's important to know in advance that they make a copy of your Visa or Mastercard as collateral in case the room is damaged in any way. They are unwilling to accept Amex.

It's more like an apartment than a hotel, which works for me.
