Ruime & schone kamers, perfect uitzicht, redelijk gelegen. Entree is een beetje vreemd omdat het hotel de bovenste verdieping (40e) is van een groot kantoorgebouw, maar daar raak je aan gewend.

This place is in the heart of Financial District and everything closes by 7:00. Nothing close by for dinner except the fine dinning in the Stock Exchange building. The room seemed dirty but that is because everything was so old and stains on carpet. The bed was not comfortable. This is only good for the business traveler and make sure you check out by Friday.

Beoordeeld door een gast van Hotels.com op aug 12, 2009
The location is great and the staff was really friendly and helpful. I enjoyed having access to the Athletic Club. The only problem was how expensive the parking was (which anything compared to OUTSIDE of Chicago is) and how it took 4 elevators to get from the garage to our room. But overall, it was a great hotel, I would go back, and I would recommend it to others.

The hotel is hard to find even in the day, parking was hard to find, and not explained - i recieved a ticket in addition to the high parking fee. It was very secure though, the staff was accomadating the rooms were large, the bathroom was large, the toilet kept running, no soap to wash your hands, no bathrobe at all, the furnishings looked as though my grandmother picked them out and were very abused. The view was nice, the breakfast was milk or juice, 2 choices of cerial or a bagel. very disappointed

The view at the BAC is amazing! And for the price, wow! I don't know any place I'd rather go. The manager in the evening was incredibly helpful with check-in and tending to our needs. The room could've been a bit tidier as well as maintained better (I'm sure the building is incredibly old), but as I said, for the price, I love it!

The hotel was desolate at night and difficult to find even for cab drivers. The room was dirty and reaked of smoke. I had to return the coffee pot in the morning due to a thick crust of dried up coffee being on the bottom. The staff was not friendly and upon check-out, they tried to bill me for 20 phone calls which I did not make. Additionally, they attempted to bill my credit card for the entire stay even though everything was booked through Hotels.com. I have never had a bad experience through hotels.com but this was a disaster!

I could not believe my eyes when I saw this room. I tried to get the most economical value in a specific area of downtown Chicago. I ended up with a gorgeous suite on the 40th floor with a spectacular view of the city at night. Although I didn't arrive until after 11 pm I ended up staying up just to look at the lights and view. The room was appointed beautifully with full ammenities. This hotel is within short walking distance of State Street and downtown shopping. The hotel itself is extremely safe as it has full security entry. Staff are helpful and personable. I was so amazed that I got this high quality of hotel for the minimal price I paid that I had to check with the front desk to make sure I was in the right room. They replied, "You booked with Hotels.com didn't you?" I've never booked with them before and believe me I will continue to do so and tell all my friends of the wonderful experience.

Chicago is not a cheap town to visit. But it is a wonderful town. And to top off the wonder of the city, one needs a very special place to live while visiting. Look no further. The Buckingham is incredible beyond words. All the "usual" 5 stars go with this hotel, but there is so much more than any other hotel we have stayed in. We have done extensive travel, and gotten some good, some bad hotels, but most of them are simply carbon copies. Not so here. The security here is undeniably the best we have encountered, not to mention the fabulous spa and gym, which "comes with the room". The incredible robes that are supplied are cozy, comfy and oh-so-luxurious. There are even banks and shops within the building, in case you forgot that toothbrush and need cash. All forms of transportation are nearly at the front door, and you won't ask for a better location in the city, be it for business or pleasure travel. This is our "flagship" hotel from now on. All others will be measured against this one for outstanding quality and service.

We had the 'French Suite' which had a huge living/dining room with a wall of windows looking out to the lake and Buckingham fountain (off for the season). A very excellent complimentary continental breakfast was included. Live plants in the room, including a very large floor palm and a potted plant on the coffee table were a very nice touch. The pool/spa were very nice, but awkward to get to, requiring a trip through the main lobby and 3 elevator rides.

There are not any restaurants in the surrounding area that I felt safe to walk to as an individual. The only source of food was a sandwich shop. Convenience stores and the like are closed before 9 PM as this is the business district. There are no cabs within sight past 9 PM either.

I feel like I fell into this hotel by accident, and couldn't be happier. We had a view of Navy Pier, Grant Park, the Planitarium, and Lake Michigan. All from the 40th floor. My brother was upgraded to a suite for no apparent reason.I don't know if I'll stay anywhere else when in Chicago. NOW, that said. Before you go here get SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS on how/where to enter parking, and how to get to the hotel from the parking garage. We went all over the place and it was frustrating. For example, from the parking garage you end up taking 3 elevators. If you could get an email with directions, you'd be set!

Beoordeeld door Janet van Texas op sep 29, 2007
Since the hotel is located on the 40th floor of an office complex, the main focus is on the business traveler. However, you do miss the extras a typical hotel would provide such as bellman services, room service, and evening dining. The location in the heart of the Financial District is great for the traveler that has business in the area. It is very quiet. The rooms are large and comfortable, although not as clean as one would expect.

Stunning view, comfy room, opulent building, excellent location in business district, and easy walk to the lakefront. Nice pool and gym. The only downside: it takes a few extra minutes to get in and out of security and switch elevators. If you anticipate being in a rush, this would not be the best hotel for you.

Beoordeeld door Daniel van New Jersey op aug 20, 2007
This hotel is good for business travelers. It is in a good location in the city (Chicago's financial district), though it is a little hard to find.* The view is very good in all the rooms, according to an informal survey of coworkers. Staff are sufficiently friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, if a little stiff with the marble and other decoration. The furniture is all older than me, but reasonably comfortable and clean. [*Don't look for a hotel! The hotel is on the 40th floor of an office/financial exchange building. You must go into the large, office-looking lobby and yell over the glass partitions for the security guard to let you in. Electronic keys issued after checkin make this unnecessary later on.] The hotel is quite a trek - two elevator trips - up from the street, and the financial district and areas east can be a little seedy on a Sunday evening. But the hotel is very close to a El stop (LaSalle on the Loop), and is very convenient if you're coming in from Midway especially. Due to the location and the trip up from the street, this is not a hotel for families or large groups. Indeed, there are only a handful of rooms. But the hotel is quite good for business travelers looking for something quiet in a convenient place.

This is a very quiet and peace-filled hotel with comfortable surroundings and an incredible view of the city. We felt like we were the only ones in residence, but know that that was not the case. The amenities were wonderful, the room clean and neat - modestly decorated, without much on the walls, but that just set off the view of the city that much more. Getting into the facilities is a little adventurous, but not hard once you get into the elevators

This is a nice place, not many rooms. My primary complaint is that the breakfast was not as described on the web site. It was a very simple continental breakfast: juice, coffee, bagels, and cold cereal--that was it! I would have been okay with that had I known the truth ahead of time.

I liked the location, it had good parking, I liked the smallness, it made it seem exclusive. Very quiet. Great view over the city. Breakfast was no grand affair more of eat it and beat it. The playing around with elevators was interesting and unusual. Great security. Lots of places around it to eat. But wouldn't dilly dally around the streets at night. Made sure I was back at the hotel before sunset. The beds were huge and comfy. The rooms were very clean. The front desk was approachable and helpful. One of my better hotel stays.

It is probably the cheapest hotel in Chicago and it has everything. The staff there treated us with great respect and were there to answer any questions that we had. It was high in security but they were all really friendly. The room was very clean and the bath tub was very comfortable for one adult. The breakfast wasn't all that great but oh well. If you don't want to spend a fortune stay here. It even has a great view of the lake from your room. It is also fun to watch the prisoners down below in the jail.

The access to the hotel - going through security, taking an elevator to 39, and then a different elevator to 40 - was bizarre. Vent fans run continuously in the bathrooms, for no apparent reason. Contrary to advertising, the breakfast was a sparse "continental" one rather than a "buffet breakfast" and there was only one bathrobe in a room reserved for two (when we called, that was stated to be the policy). The views are spectacular, but the hotel is too strange to stay there again. We were happy when we went down the elevator to the first floor the last time.
