Hampton Inn Madison Square Garden Area Hotel - New York

Zeer goed centraal gelegen hotel in Manhattan (300 meter van Penn Station). Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Elke ochtend een uitgebreid ontbijt (zit bij prijs inbegrepen, al staat het op de site niet vermeld). De (vier-persoons)kamers en bedden zijn goed. Op de kamer 2 bedden van elk 160 cm breed. Alleen de kastruimte is beperkt (te weinig voor 4 personen). Flatscreen TV en gratis WIFI. Wij kijken zeer tevreden terug op ons verblijf en kunnen het aanbevelen als accomodatie in hartje Manhattan.

Great location, warm and hospitable staff, clean and excellent complimentary breakfast.

We booked two rooms and requested double beds but were told that the best they had was two kings with a roll-a-way in each room. When we checked in we were told our room wasn't ready but they would hold our luggage and put our bags in our rooms when they were ready. We returned later and neither our bags nor the roll-a-way's were in our rooms. Not to mention our rooms were not together (2nd and 8th floors). Our bags were quickly found, but we were only able to get one roll-a-way and it was delivered to our room after 2 AM. The lobby is too small for the number of customers normally in the area and the elevator is terribly slow and the stairs exit onto the street and are locked preventing them to be used to get around the inconvenience. The rooms were small but clean. Meets the need of a place to sleep and clean up while visiting the big apple.

Outstanding staff best I have ever delt with

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was very small but very clean which is a plus. The person at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful especially when there was a problem with my reservation.The location was great!!! just blocks from Times Square.

The hotel is literally right across the street from Madison square garden, pizza delivery was a new york minute and amazing! I arrived hours early for check-in time and waited about an hour for a room to be ready. The hallways are one lane and if someone is walking towards you one of you must dip into a room's doorway so the other can get by. My room was made up of 75% bed, 20% bathroom and 5% desk. Im not claustrophobic but Iam now. I would not recommend this hotel for parties that need to share a room. The table for the tv remote and brochures was off of the ground and fixed to the wall due to space issues. Location is the only factor I which I would ever stay here again.

I travelled from DC to NYC with my parents and we stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. It was very central and close to the drop-off and pick-up point for the bus near Penn Station.

This is the perfect base for a NYC visit. You wouldn't want to choose it if you planned to hang around your room- they are clean & modern but tiny, but just right for getting out and seeing the city. The breakfast room is bright and roomy so if you are traveling with a group it is a nice place if you want to gather. An excellent deal for the price.

Great location. The staff were incredibly helpful, so different from the usual reputation of New York City. The breakfast had good variety.

A huge bonus is the hotel provides FREE wifi and internet access. Cons: 1: The bathroom sink takes a while to get rid of the water 2: BEWARE of the Fiji water charge! You will or if your lucky (won't) face a $10 bill for having the fiji water bottle in your room even if you don't drink it.

The complimentary breakfast was great. Good location if you are traveling by amtrak.

The hotel was perfect, great location. The staff were expectionally helpful. Would go back there anytime.

The staff was friendly, personable and helpful. The a/c in the room was not working properly, however, we managed. The rooms are small, however adequate in size. We had 2 adults and 2 teens. We did not spend much time in the room. The rooms were very clean as was the hotel throughout. Good location. They don't offer parking at the hotel. Guests must take their own car to a parking garage about 2 blocks away. The parking cost was $40 for overnight stay. The bathrooms were clean. We would stay here again.

Extremely small rooms even for NYC standards. We travel to NYC several times a year and are used to small rooms. However this room was booked for 3 people and there was no place for luggage and no closet to speak of and only drawers were in nightstand between bed. We had to climb over bed to get to our things. Bathroom was ok size. This hotel would be ok if you were only one person and only there a night or two and had no luggage.

This hotel was perfect for our trip to New York. Less than a block from Penn Station we were within easy walking distance from the train and subway. The rooms were very clean, the staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a great way to start the day. We had my wife and 2 adult children in 1 room and while a touch crowded was very workable. We didn't go to New York to sit around the room. It fit our budget and tourist needs perfectly. I would highly recommend this hotel and would staty there again.

The location is central to all locations in Manhattan and the outer boroughs, due to the close proximity to Penn Station. The staff was very friendly and the rooms, while not large, were clean and well appointed. I appreciated the free wireless, and the coffee in the mornings was good, I didn't eat the hot food (too busy running to the Javits Center) but took fruit with me every morning. I would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is very near Madison Square Garden. It's safe, very clean and comfortable. Everything looked new. There was a delicious complimentary breaakfast, including fruit salad, cereal , eggs and bagels. I also found the proximity to a beautiful Church (St.Francis) an added plus. The price was inexpensive by NYC standards, and I highly recommend it.

Clean rooms, great location and wonderful staff.

Great convenient location. Excellent pricing, good breakfast. Elevators are slow, and rooms were not ready till after check in time, but hotel was very accomodating with luggage and putting items into our room. Great service.

Well, I really liked just about everygthing about it. The people were VERY helpful! The only thing I didn't care for was the breakfast and the seating for the breakfast. The rooms were VERY clean! A little small but you don't spend much time in the room so that doesn't matter at all!!!! Overall it was a really good hotel to stay at and I would in a second stay there again!

Hotel was comfortable, warm and clean. The beds were big doubles, two teenage daughters happy to share. Beds very comfortable. Staff friendly and very helpful. A bit of a wait for the lifts at peak times. Breakfast very adequate and free tea/coffee available at all times. Breakfast room very small so we took ours back to our room to eat. Good value for money in central location. Efficient ( if a bit noisy) heating/ air conditing but NYC not quiet anyway so bring you earplugs to the city that never sleeps. Fantastic holiday!

Location and cleanliness of the hotel were tops. Very friendly staff as well. Definitely got my money's worth on this stay!

The hotel is very convenient to Madison Square Gardens, where we attended a show. But there isn't much in the way of good food in that area after 10:00pm. It's necessary to go further afield in order to find fun restaurants and bars.

Midtown Manhattan, five block from the Empire State Building, three blocks from the metro line, easy walking distance to just about any New York landmark mentioned in a song or movie, a bona fide Irish pub a block and a half from the front door--so what's not to like! Easy to find (W. 31st St. and 6th Ave.). Clean. Quiet. Small (only eight rooms per floor). Safe. Free breakfast. This is where I'm stayin' next time I'm in town.

We attend the Westminster Dog Show annually, and found the location to be perfect; a very short walk to Madison Square Garden and to good restaurants for lunch and dinner. The staff were very freindly and accomodating for all requests. We had lunches to carry on the train that were cumbersome to carry. The front desk staff went into their personal effects to provide convenient carrying bags. Complimentary breakfast included a variety of bagels, muffins and danish, fresh fruit and juice, and hot items: waffles,sausage and eggs. Not cooked to order, but free!! We will return.

Possibly one of the best inexpensive hotels I've stayed in, in New York City.

the room was clean, small, but clean...the hallways were a little grungy but i wasn't staying in the hallway...the complimentary breakfast was very good...hot and cold...and conveniently timed.

Loved this hotel. The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean. And we loved the convenience of it being right by the Penn Station where we came in and it being located near lots of attractions including the Empire State Building, Times Square etc. Will stay there again. And of course love the free breakfast.

This hotel could not be any more central if you tried. Right at the heart of many attractions, the hotel is within a 2 min walk to Macy's and other local attractions. The service was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was complimentary and choices changed on a daily basis. Rooms were small but could not stress how clean they were. Would definately go back again as this is a top hotel within budget!

We found the Hampton Inn near Penn Station to be a very convenient location when taking the train (just a 5 minute walk from Penn Station). The lobby is small and congested but the front desk people were very cordial. The room was clean and comfortable though a little small, though not unexpected for being in Manhattan. The flat screen TV and HBO were nice to relax to after a busy day. The breakfast was really a very good and varied breakfast and the staff was terrific. We never lacked for anything and everything was very good. It helped to get a good meal in before starting our day. While this hotel is nothing fancy it's a good value for the price and the price is much better than others in the area.

If you are arriving at Penn Station, this hotel is great. Everything was clean, the room was roomier than I expected - we used the ironing board as an extra table at counter height for recharging our electronics. Breakfast good enough. There was noise from the halls, but not the other rooms. Very friendly staff! Stored our bags till train time and when we got in before check-in. I'd stay there again.

The hotel is located on a quite side street, yet within walking distance of Madison Square Garden, Times Square and other attractions. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was clean and roomy for 2 people. Very nice bathroom. No fridge or microwave, but we hadn't planned on doing any cooking anyways and instead enjoyed the many food choices the City has to offer. Complimentary breakfast offered a decent variety of pastries, bagels, cereals, fruit (stay away from the eggs and sausage - they were awful). I would definately stay at this hotel again when coming back to the City.

This hotel is very conveniently located to Penn Station which is where we came into the city by bus. The hotel is one block east so it was easy to walk there. Macy's is a few blocks away, and Times Square is a short walk. The hotel is nice and clean and on a fairly quiet street. The lobby is small especially when you're trying to walk thru and there's about 20-25 high school girls just checking in. There's fresh baked cookies every evening at 5 pm while they last. The complimentary breakfast is good with quite a variety of food. The room size would be my complaint. We had three people, but even with two people, only one person at a time can walk around the beds and thru the room. The beds are great--slept like a baby. The pillows are nice and new and comfy (3 per bed). All the bedding is new, crisp, and white, including the comforter. In my opinion, it's a bit pricey for what you get, but at least you know you'll be getting a very clean room. If you can stay weeknights, it's much cheaper. We were here one weekend night and one weeknight so it kind of averaged out.

Beds were extremely comfortable and service was first rate. Can't beat it for the price.

Pros: Great price for a double/double in Manhattan, Good location, Incredibly attentive and efficient staff, Clean and comfortable rooms Cons: The only qualm I had with the hotels was that there never seemed to be a security check of any kind for entry. We returned one night from the clubs at 3AM...walked right in and actually didn't see an attendant in sight. This worried me a bit given its high traffic location.

Conveniently located to MSG and the the downtown attractions. The rooms are cozy and clean. Wireless is included as are breakfasts. The elevators are too small and often crowded but the other features of this hotel outweigh this shortcoming.

would not think twice to book this hotel

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. I did not use the free buffet, there's a great little diner and a Dunkin Donuts right next door to the hotel. The parking was pricey ($40 a day) and there were mouse glue traps under the bed, but that's all fair game in NYC. Had a great stay and would stay there again!

My Husband and I live just outside the city. Recently we went to a show but didn't want to have to worry about driving home. This was the perfect place for us to stay. We spent two nights comfortably. It's NY. It's small. But not too small. The bed was huge. The room was spotless. The staff so sweet, and informative! I was amazed to see hot eggs, waffles, sausage and more for the free breakfast. It was perfect! We would stay again.

Woman at the front desk was rude and not customer focus. There was a problem in the hotel with brown water coming from the sink, shower and toilet. It remained brown for almost 2 days and the only response we got from the front desk was, "not the hotel's problem".
