Lake Okanagan Resort - Kelowna

I was very disappointed with my stay at Lake Okanagan Resort. The facility has a lot of potential and seems that it was a nice resort when it was first built, but it is very run down now. The whole facility not only needs paint and other improvements, but the hotel service/management was very inadequate. My husband and I complained the first day that we were there about a couple bats that had made a home in our stairwell. We were told they would not hurt us and to basically deal with it. The next day, the bats moved to right outside of our door, and my husband chased them away. They continued to return, with one actually taking up residence inside of our doorwell. We requested to be moved then, and we were given quite a bit of hassle. They first sent the maintenance man to talk us out of it, and when we kept demanding to be moved, they finally did move us. However, they moved us to a more expensive room and required that we pay the difference. I was quite upset with most everything about this hotel.

My husband and I booked a "studio suite" at the Lake Okanagan Resort for the long weekend but when we arrived we were put in a three bedroom chalet. It was huge, so I felt like we really got our money's worth. The condo was clean and well kept, and it was nice to have such a large space to relax in. The only small complaints I can say about the place were that the staff when I checked out were having computer issues and were both new and obviously had not been fully trained. They couldn't get me checked out and tried to charge me twice for the room even though it had been prepaid through hotels.com. There was no manager on site to help them so they took my word for it when I handed over the keys. A call back later confirmed that I had not been recharged and that I had been successfully checked out. Also, the hotel is nearly a 10 mile drive down a winding narrow mountain road from downtown Kelowna. After dark, driving back to the hotel was not the most pleasant experience. This obviously isn't the hotel's fault but I wish I had known before I made the reservations. I probably would have chosen something closer to downtown Kelowna.

We booked and paid for a one bedroom/ kingsize bed. When we arrived the girl at the reception said they didnt have kingsize bedrooms. we wanted to speak to a manager, but all she said was, there was not manager on duty.The next morning the manager would be there. Next morning no manager, manager will be back on monday, but would call me that saturday about the problem. Manager never called!!! They made a misstake cause we found out thru Hotels.com that there were kingsize bedrooms available. Nobody in the lobby wanted to take any responsibility or action to take care of the situation. You can not tell me that a big hotel like this the only responsible person that weekend was a 20 yr old girl. They never called us they never gave us any other option. BED'S ARE VERY HARD AND VERY OLD!!!

What a beautiful surprise! A lovely resort placed beautifully on the side of a cliff overlookingthe lake. were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite with a magnificent view which was a nice touch. We were very impressed with all the resort had to offer especially for families at all times of the year. We were attending a wedding and were very impressed with both the service for our party and with the food. We will definately be back and will be bringing our son with us. This place is really made for families.
