Beschrijving


Location. The Grand Hotel Amrath Amsterdam is located in central Amsterdam, Netherlands, adjacent to the harbour and 500 metres from the Central Station. Dam square is 800 metres away, and the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum are both within two kilometres of the hotel.
Hotel Features. Located in the historic 20th-century Shipping House, the five-storey Grand Hotel Amrath Amsterdam combines contemporary design with original Art Nouveau elements and motifs reflecting Holland's maritime history. Amenities include an indoor pool, a fitness suite with cardio-vascular equipment, sauna and steam room. Multilingual staff at the 24-hour reception desk can provide travel and tourist assistance. Complimentary newspapers are available in the lobby. Motorists will find valet parking on arrival (fees apply).

The Seven Seas Restaurant offers a dinner menu of Mediterranean-inspired French dishes and specially selected wines, served in an Art Nouveau setting with wooden floors, marble fixtures and stained glass. The Grand Hotel's bar offers drinks and light meals from late morning. Room service is available around the clock.

Business amenities include conference and meeting rooms with wireless Internet access.

Bicycles can be hired at Central Station and numerous locations throughout the city. The hotel's concierge can advise on the best locations for joining canal-boat cruises.

Guestrooms. The 165 guestrooms at the Grand Hotel Amrath feature Art Nouveau decor with warm colours and premium bedding. All are equipped with 32-inch flatscreen televisions with satellite connections, direct-dial telephones and complimentary wireless Internet access. Rooms are also provided with complimentary newspapers, a complimentary minibar and a coffee machine. Private bathrooms are supplied with bathrobes, slippers, hair dryers and Lanvin toiletries.

Expert Tip. If a canal cruise seems too sedate, hire a canal bike instead.

Routebeschrijving

From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS):
Distance to Grand Hotel Amrath Amsterdam is 20 kilometres, approximately 30 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A railway station is located under Schiphol Plaza, in the central hall of the terminal. Every 15 minutes, a direct train runs to Amsterdam Central Station. Shared Schiphol Travel taxis can be found outside the arrivals hall. The cars can seat up to eight people and cost around 19 EUR per person. Private taxis into Amsterdam city centre cost approximately 40 EUR. Public buses frequently run to Amsterdam and other destinations. Buses 197 and 370 run to central Amsterdam and Amsterdam Zuid. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Amsterdam can easily be explored on foot. In addition, convenient bus, tram and metro services run throughout the city and outlying areas. Cycling is also a popular way to see Amsterdam. There are taxi ranks at the central station. Driving within the canal ring is discouraged.
